I dont get that, the best technology in the world and there are still so many flats and chain drops.......

There is absolutely no problem equipping a road bike with a tire that will never flat. That rider will never make it to the top of the Grand Colombier anywhere close to the rider who chooses the lighter, faster, less durable wheel that might flat, but doesn't.
