July 2020 100+ Miles/km Thread
June is all but in the books. What's your goal for July? Any particular rides planned? I'm going to set my goal this month for 800 miles, though I'd really like to do more than that...we'll see. I'm also thinking of doing a 100 mile all-MUP night ride. Again, we'll see.

With the heat coming on , I hope to do 125 .
I struggled in June to make my goal. The humidity in the morning is so bad and when I wait past 10 , the humidity is usually lower but the temperature is up .
Evening is worse or there’s a thunder shower.
im still waiting to do some MUP rides but the COVID has shot up lately and it’s the younger folks that’s spreading it and they’re the ones you see on the paths .
BTW , I was wondering how many of you are over 65 ? Just curious. I recently had my 69th birthday. One more and I’ll be 70 and hopefully still riding.
July goal is 125 miles.

I did 804 miles in June (all early morning rides) and am going to shoot for one thousand for July.

My July work schedule is a total crapshoot at the moment. I am going to set a goal of 400 miles and depending on the German government and their immigration restrictions it may go way down or I may have a whole lot of time to ride.

My goal in June was 150 and I did 170. I'm going to work harder in July and try for 225 miles. It feels good to get riding the bike again after a rough start of the year.

I am just starting to think about my riding goals for the year. Covid has put the brakes on vacations and other time away from the bike so I should have the time. One of my goals was to make an effort to ride hills but the Arboretum requires a reservation now days and I haven't looked into that. I really need a training plan to keep me motivated; I should start with that.
65 here. Rode the MUP's and saw only a handful of masks. I saw a lot of riders who look pretty senior except over the weekend. Big difference is you can't ride up to someone and have a chat.

Are there any safety (crime) issues on your MUPs? Be careful out there! One bad actor could ruin your day... er, night!
I love to hike at night, and ride too, but I always go with at least two other people for safety reasons. We've come across a few strange things on some of our night hikes, so I'm glad I wasn't by myself. We actually have a Meetup group that does night hikes occasionally, so there could be anywhere from as few as 4 or 5 to as many as 20 or more on those! If you've never done a night hike in the woods, it's a whole different world.

Ummm, my turn I guess. I must say I'm getting a bit intimidated by the numbers being predicted by fellow posters. Don't we deserve a break for hot July? Guess not........anyway, I'll up the ante to 700 (with the knowledge that I just made 600 last month, and that VA riding, while fun, is a real bear).

Goal for July: 700 miles
7/01 - 41
MTD 41miles
YTD - no idea, but it must be respectable
Felt great and wanted to do more than 41, but drivetrain was super dirty and dry and began having shifting problems. Spent the last hour degreasing and lubing all components. Amazing what FL sand does..... Good news is I'm here for first half of July, where the miles are a lot easier.........

Goal: 600 miles
7/1 - 41 miles
Strange day, I was going to do 40 for a good start to the month but about 5 miles out I found out that I forgot to pack snacks. I didn't want to be out in the middle of nowhere and have a low blood sugar event (that would be a real bad day) was thinking about turning around. I went to the Culver's Frozen Custard and they just recently opened for dine-in. I had an excuse to have a 2 scoop turtle sundae. I ended up riding 41 miles. Saw some wildlife today, a crane, a flock of geese blocked the MUP a bit, a deer and a beaver. It turned out to be a fun ride.
