I know there has been a lot of discussion on which bb to use with the NJS Dura Ace 7600 crank, but seems like the issue has not been properly resolved or at least I can't find a definitive answer. I know I can use the 7610 bb but I can't really afford on at the moment and even if I could they are hideously overpriced and that would not be a good solution in any case.

The other option seems to be the Hatta r9400, while a bit cheaper the problem is still the same. It seems to be for an ISO crank like the sugino 75 or grand mighty but a lot of places recommend to use it with DA 7600 as well.

So at this point I am wondering what the options are. To boot, I am not really sure if the crank is ISO or JIS, there doesn't seem to be any consensus on that either. One thing that is know for sure is the spindle length need to be 109mm.

So far I have two options, one get the prototype ISO bb from ben's cycles or two get the sugino grand mighty 68. The only reason I am considering the sugino bb is that it seems to be used with sugino 75 cranks so my reasoning is; if hatta is compatible with both 75 and 7600 and grand mighty 68 is compatible with 75 than it should also be compatible with my 7600 dura ace as well. This is probably faulty logic but I just want to know what bb I need so I don't waste my money on something that might not fit.

I watched a 7610 go unsold for 40 dollars recently.

Get the Phil 108. Offset it by half a mm. Problem solved. It's JIS. Or JIS "short taper," according to Phil. Either or works like butter.

Save for your wallet. Consider it member dues for joining the club.

Thanks rusty, I had a choice between the 7600 and 7710 and I stupidly chose the 7600 thinking the square taper would be both cheaper and easier to find, unfortunately I just saw a 7710 bb go for 20 bucks on ebay. Sometimes you just can't win.

Ok have been looking into Phil wood bb's they seem to be just as expensive as sugino 75 or hatta. It also seems that Phil bb will require a special tool and a set of extra bracket fasteners which makes it the most expensive bb I've seen so far. I also looked at tange bottom brackets and they seem to say they are adjustable, would these work for my application. Also if the agreement seems that da 7600 is jis, could I use a un54 110mm with these cranks?

Yep. It'll be a little off chainline, but acceptable.

i used a campy 111mm it works well. a little heavy but so smoooth

Is the campy 111 the iso version? I am not really familiar with their stuff.
