That is such a pretty bike. Is this a 21 and a 1/2? I'm no Raleigh expert but I believe they came in half inch increments.

Here is a pic I found from Sheldon Brown's website -- it shows the '76 model coming in 21.5, 22.5, 23.5, and 24.5
I will have to measure it tomorrow to verify for sure -- its at my LBS right now . I know the darn thing always felt a bit too long for me, and I ride a 53/54 mostly

My experience is the top tubes on '70s 531-tubed Raleighs were all 22.5-in/57 cm no matter what the seat tube measurement was. Also, is that the longer-caged version of the Huret Jubilee rear derailleur? If so, that's a nice upgrade!

80's

Had this exact bike in 23.5" on Maui in the early 80's. Rode it til I had a custom Medici built which I raced in France. Gave the Raleigh Comp to a kid who helped build my home and knew what the bike was. Wish I still had it, but glad it went to someone who appreciated it... cheers for the memories!

Mahalo! --- I was going to fit some cyclocross tires to it to do some gravel cruising, but held off when I looked at the downtubes of the typical gravel bike that actually gets used and decided that I did not want to harm the paint of this old soldier

Not to make you question selling it, but helicopter tape is outstanding for cushioning the frame and paint from impacts.

back on the forum after a lot of years absent.

Sent a message, not sure it was delivered. I'm 2 plus hours east of OKC on I40, is there any way to contact you privately to discuss?

It's my size (or close enough) too. I'm going to see what I can do to make it happen. It would strain my finances a bit (I currently have an account payable in an unknown amount due to a broken lawn tractor for which I don't yet have an estimate, plus I'm incurring the additional expense of hiring a yard maintenance crew while the mower is in the shop), but I've always had the philosophy that if you need money badly enough, you can find it somewhere (legally of course. I'm not going to do anything that would land my in jail just for the sake of acquiring a beautiful vintage bicycle).! So maybe I'll ask my sister (although I hate to take advantage of her good-natured generosity) or some other relatives, and friends. In fact, now that I think of it, I have a couple of friends who owe me money from gambling, and now would be a good time to try to collect. Just sayin'.
Love it. "Strained" finances but willing to gamble. Just put what you would use to pay bills, go to casino and put it all on black. That way you wouldn't have to take advantage of your sister. Of course, you COULD give up gambling and use that money to buy the bike.
