Hello!
Hey everyone! I’ve been a long time stalker and finally decided to join. I’ve been collecting Experts only, but my goal is to have one of every Ironman. #FirstWorldGoals. Anyways, I’m happy to be here.

Lofty goals and hope you can post some pics soon. My goal eventually evolved into, to get my favorite color scheme from each year '85-'89.

It's been a long time since I've taken her out, so tonight I grabbed my '85 and went for a little night ride. I instantly fell in love with the bike all over again! It just feels so fast, lightweight, and agile!

I’ll be resurrecting the NotYourDaddy’s IM, likely with 10sp Ultegra.
Otherwise busy, but packaging stuff to send to TX.
Oh, and two centuries last weekend, 105.13 with 7,209’ on Sat and a recovery 100.01 with 2,403 on Sun. Sat=hard.
Sun was supposed to be easy, BUT, my girl decided to open up a sprint section, 12 miles in 31:05. Then her Di2 failed with 25 to go and maybe 1600’ of the climbing. (Calhoun County, IL, got to/from there by ferry). So, in solidarity, our little group of four decided we’d all stay in 50/13, stuck like hers. It quickly became mashed potatoes. Quad quivering quiet slogging. By 95 miles, any incline at all was a bummer.
Great lesson, though. Check your USB charging ports. Never thought I would be saying that about bikes.

At the beach all week, doing 25 mile sprints each day on the 87 yellow and white Classic that’s been updated to 9 speed Dura Ace/Ultegra.
No hills here, but am bucking a 17-20 mph head wind, so there’s that.
May even post a pic or two if I can figure out how to do it from a phone or iPad.

Then, the next day, you decide to get the tailwind coming home, so you drive to the turnaround.... and the wind switches.
And the rest of the 99.999% at the beach are going "why so serious?"

Been there, maybe not that beach, but going one way, you're Lance; the other way, you're off the back and losing fast.

Wow, I'm fast today!
(I turn around)
No, I'm not.

Actually was a bit faster today. Slightly less blowy so cranked it up for 32 miles total at full tilt.
My legs are sore.

Thanks guys! She's definitely beautiful! I still feel very lucky to own it. I really like both of the color schemes that were available on the '85 models. I'm usually not a big fan of the color red, but this bike is an exception. That pic really doesn't do the paint justice. It's such a deep, rich, sparkling ruby red... I really need to take some newer pics of it. I've since removed the plastic "dork disc" from the rear wheel, and angled the handlebars down a bit from where I had them.
It really is a blast to get on this thing after riding my big heavy touring bike for a while though!

Ouch
It was actually a cool evening here in Houston, so I was going to take out the Miami Vice I just finished. I drove up to Oklahoma City to buy it. The guy said it was a 54 CM but in my excitement I didn’t notice it was actually a 58 CM. Anyways, I like to cruise on a bigger bike so I was going to see if I liked it. At the last second I decided to take out my 1982 Trek 613. The Centurion Gods weren’t happy, because I must have forgot to tighten something and around mile 3 the wheel started shaking and popped off. I flew forward and landed right on the frame. Needless to say I won’t be having anymore children.

Note the suitable palette of the backdrop, so appropriate to the medium pastel of the focal piece.
Note the not subtle intrusion of mankind's need for exclusivity with the sign.
As the ocean seems never-ending, consider the contrast with the restrictions of the gate and the ropes, as the dock extends to forbidden and mysterious places barred from physical attainment, yet with a promise of hope when allowed access.
The vertical barring of access matches the classic top tube design and the down tube angle is in harmony with the additional crossbars blocking one’s ability to go beyond pre-set limits.

That’s more like it. Always knew you had poetic tendencies.

That never-ending ocean has a pretty close opposite shore.
Seems odd to have such a forbidding looking framework around a set of gates with openings big enough to crawl through.

Note the No Trespassing sign, and contemplate whether you should get the hell out of there before you get shot.

Listening to Wisconsin's finest, The Bodeans on Pandora. Perfect music for rolling down the road on a bike looking at the country and enjoying the scenery. Sadly, I'm not rolling down the road on a bike at the moment.
