My new valves (Milkit) came in yesterday. I was dragging my feet on swapping them out, but your post goaded me in to it. These valves will keep pressure in the tire with the valve core removed, which is nice if your tires occasionally come unseated when completely deflated. The swap and re-seat all went smoothly, but I wasn't ready for the violence of the air pressure shoving the sealant syringe piston - POP! 
I guess that's why they recommend taking the tire down to 20psi or so before removing/adding sealant.

I may have spoken too soon - they have special valve cores and one of them is being a pain. It's not snapping shut when removing the pump head and it's losing somewhere in the neighborhood of 10psi before I can manually pull the bugger out and stopper it. Will have to see if I can find others with a similar issue and see if there are some tips for dealing with it.

October is the official start of fire season here in California. We get hot, dry winds which makes fighting fires impossible. We already have the most acreage burned in the states history and it isn't fire season yet.
