Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Did two heads of cabbage. A one-gallon jar is mostly full of kraut. Oh yes.
Whenever I slice cabbage, it never lasts long enough to be fermented. Generally it gets incorporated into Halushki.

The summer before my senior year of college I sliced off the very tip of my right index with a meat slicer. Had slipped while slicing corned beef. I have a little piece of scar tissue that grew back to cover up the flat spot. Customer's sandwich was delayed.

Worked in a sandwich/cheese steak/beer place. Summer of '86. My favorite summer job ever. The boss was Israeli so he would take off on Saturday. When the cat was away, the mice played. We would help ourselves to beer and ogle the cute women who would stop in. My buddy would bring in his turntable and records and hook it up to the sound system.

It's got bacon, onions, garlic, cabbage, and noodles. What's not to like?

I told him I didn't have liver disease but rather poor disease. My weekly food budget that school year ('88-'89) was roughly $20. The Italian grocery store in the neighborhood next to mine started carrying pasta that went for $0.99 for two 1 lb. bags. I was overjoyed. There was a dive bar near me that had Iron City 16 oz. bottles for $1. I would go there Friday nights. For $5 I could get a buzz on, buy a pack of Beer Nuts and still leave a tip.

The bacon, but this could be a suitable dish without it.

was it Norh Oakland or South? I know of many dive bars at Pitt. I learned about them from older students since I didn't turn 21 until I was a senior.

That's actually reasonably healthy. Maybe throw a few legumes in it?

I'm hoping for mid October here.

They keep putting double digits days on the 10-day forecast but that day comes and nope, 103°

Healthy, but not exactly a meal for an active person. Legumes cost money. Sometimes I had to wash my clothes in the tub so I could afford new pens and notebooks.

She was ready to ride when I got her, but not exactly what what I wanted.

I’ve changed the wheels, components, and the bar/stem. When I get a Salsa Timberjack frameset and a new XT crankset, I’ll have 2 mountain bikes.

I think this thread must be why I’m now getting “transfer to CMU” banner ads. As in Central Michigan. The Chippewas, I believe.

Anything with sauteed onions has a lot of potential. The more patience you have with the onions, the better, so don't start boiling the noodles till after you throw in the cabbage.
