Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Today was supposed to be partly sunny, around 80F. At noon, 69F and raining.

Give it time. Peak temp isn't for a couple hours yet.

The raining part is what's problematic. Was like a 15% chance midday.

You could fix that, ya know. Broaden your horizons, enlarge your territory.

You still got plenty of time to heat up by 11 degrees.

Maybe you'll get steam coming off the streets when the sun comes out.

That's crazy talk.

However, I am currently listening to a new-to-me album.

Search for "Passage: 138 B.C. - A.D. 1611" @ YouTube and hit play.

Just got back from a lovely 25 mile ride with my wife. 25 miles is her limit for a back on a regular bike. Off to check the leaderboard.

Glad someone finally took it over. The pressure of keeping the streak alive was getting to me.

At least I keep getting tops in elevation. Too bad there is not a leaderboard for it.

Looks ok to me. I came home with a bad case of helmet hair. Did not take a selfie.

Are you forever scarred by the fallout from the "high hands" pic??

I don’t have any selfies, but here is a recent pic of Jackie and mrs datlas. They are each better looking than me.

p.s. that's daughter #2 lurking under the blanket in the second picture. She is living on West Coast Time and is on a totally different schedule from us.

Forever scarred from the fallout from crashing. Still not comfortable no-hands at all, and I leave my phone in a ziplock bag while riding.

Understandable.

Although you could probably try a one-handed approach with reasonable results, if it strikes your fancy.

There are identified pics of me all over the web because of my job, so it's not something I worry about too much.

Edit: Oh, it's the mechanics, is it? Mine was one-handed. I can ride that bike no-hands, but not while trying to do anything much more than unzip my jacket.

Regarding the chain pin push and other stupid tricks, I was organizing some power cords today in my workroom and after removing all of the cords from a power strip and replacing them in an orderly manner, nothing worked. It's a really old power strip so I figured that it finally quit especially since the light in the switch wouldn't light up. Thing is toast.

I get another strip and start plugging them in to it and I have 5 plugs for 4 devices. The fifth plug was for the power strip. I had plugged itself into itself.
