Strava Flybys - Turned off by default

I live in a 26 floor apartment building. Even if a person knows what building I live in I don't find this to be a particular invasion of privacy given that they don't know exactly where in the building I live.

That incident did make me think about turning off flybys, but I didn't do it.

I can't say I honestly use heat maps to do routes; typically a lot easier to search for other routes that others have already created, or to check out local cycling clubs' ride libraries. That said, fwiw RWGPS is IMO a better implementation of heatmaps, with light blue to dark red spectrum that's easier to see relative popularity of roads used by cyclists, eg. your area

That's a benefit of urban settings, mid-size cities or rural areas do not have that luxury.

I wonder if this has anything to do with a news story that a bunch of SJW's mistakenly went after the wrong guy due to an incident. The SJW/twitter army went after someone thinking a certain flyby was someone who insulted some/did something (don't exactly remember what actually started the incident). The Flyby date was close to the supposed incident, then the SJW/Twitter army used that flyby data to doxx, harrass, and someone correct me if I am wrong, get that guy fired from his job.
There was another case of a guy wrongfully accused of a break-in because he was riding around a house in the time from of the robbery

I also turned off my flybys for a short bit. But I liked that functionality to give kudos to people I meet along the way, or help identify people I follow on Strava. Even after it was shut down last week, I've turned mine back on.
