Sunday my dad and I finally got to go on a ride together. I took my recently completed 1976 Motobecane Grand Jubile. We had planned on a 25 mile loop, but at about 7 miles in I looked down and noticed a wobble in my chainring. That was definitely strange, because this crank and rings run true normally. That's when I saw the fixed cup had become un-fixed and was backing out of the BB shell 
The silly French thread bottom bracket decided it didn't want to stay put. So we cut the ride short, and I was able to get the fixed cup screwed back in with my fingers, but we had to stop every 2 or 3 miles to re-tighten it. I've had mechanical issues before, but this had to be one of the most aggravating ones, mostly because it was due to a design flaw and not totally my own negligence. In hindsight, I probably should have applied a threadlocker, but I honestly didn't think that it would be that necessary.

First ride following a hectic, non-enjoyable week, even though it got shortened by 2/3 the distance planned, only 10-1/2 miles, it was really great feeling to get out and sweat some while pushing myself up some hills. Flatted a well worn Continental Giro sew-up on the rear of my Medici, didn't have the usual spare in my center jersey pocket, (shame on me
) and had to make "The Call of Shame". Monica took pity on me and didn't tell me to start hoofing it back home, and up the final hill, back on the shortest route.
Couldn't ask for clearer skies and fantastic conditions, 82℉, with 27% relative humidity, so I give today an 8.5out if 10. The replacement tubs had already been ordered yesterday morning, Probikekit.com had a fantastic instant special sale I happened upon, 3 new Vittoria Rally 700X25 tan wall tubs on the way here.
It'll be the Tommasini tomorrow, might be repairing a sew up tomorrow evening just to stay in practice. It was a small rock shard that punctured the tire.

44 miles today, Ventura to Summerland on my '78 PR10. First ride with a Stronglight 99 crankset from Eroica swap meet. The murals are on each side of our coffee stop in Carpentaria. Great weather, great ride. I was the only vintage steel on a club ride of maybe 30 riders, nice weekday turnout. 15.2 mph avg.

First serious ride of the year.
I was going to do a 60 km but it turned into a 95 as I thought a couple of roads were paved, and they weren't. Given 22 and 19 mm tubulars, I didn't really want to do a 20 km stint on gravel. Also, turning back is not an option, so I improvised myself a new route. As another road turned out to be unpaved, it became a 95.

Tuesday was my first ride all the way into Philadelphia for this season. It was a perfect day so I rode down to the South Street bridge to be sure it was still there (yup, its still there). I took this one photo but unless you've done this trip you have no idea. One photo cannot tell the story. A great ride. Left Oaks, PA around 10am, turned at trails end (near Christian St) around noon and stopped for picnic lunch on Venice Island around 12:30. A bit cool at first but warmed up into the high 70s. It was the kind of day that helps you forget about the long winter we had. 52 miles and I felt great.

Took a nice local ride about 20 miles round trip to test out my recent $3 thrift store bought Miyata Ninety. To Alma CO on the highest bike path in the world which is finally clear after being flooded or covered in snow drifts for the past couple months. Bike road great but is to short top line for me so rather than invest in fixing it up it will likely go back to the thrift store this weekend.

Took a nice spring ride to Alma and back on the back no name road first time this year this route is nearly clear of snow. Getting to really like my recently rescued specialized MTB bout $20 in parts and 5 hours labor and it is one of the best riding bikes I have owned really surprised how nice the mixed DA Suntour Accushift drive train works.

I made a 13.5 mile post office run (the long way) on my recently acquired Legnano Gran Premio. (Eroica souvenier?) The frame is a little small, but what a great riding little bike. The rear brake cable slipped, so I had lots of lever action, but no rear brake, and no 8mm wrench along, so I took it kind of easy. It's also my entry in the $100 clunker challenge, so I threw some used Gators on it, and some $10 SPD pedals. I've also got a 56cm Roma Olympiade, and this one feels lighter and more lively, somehow. Fun bike.

Took an early morning Ferry to Lopez Island for the 2019 Tour De Lopez. I was in bed sick Wednesday so it was nice to be able to ride and I was blessed with a gorgeous day. Bikes, Beer a Sunny day what could be better?

Lopez looks like a great ride. I did it several years ago, and don't remember any gravel sections. Is that a recent change? Looks like a great day. It was gray and overcast when I did it. We drove over 2000 miles RT to ride 35, but it was worth it.

I’m not quite sure what C&V Mountain Biking is as I am close to the origin on the learning curve. But, I’ve been riding a 1991 Univega Alpina Team and today I rode up 4,400 feet in 9 miles which was a first for me. Then, I turned around and with ever increasing confidence, crashed on the way down. Nothing broken but skin. Sorry that I didn’t take a

I did it in 2017 and took the very short route and had no gravel I assumed it was something only found on the longer routes but it could be new, this section was on the short (10 mile) route and in looking at the map appears to be the only gravel part on any route. It was sunny and about 55 degrees, perfect for April. Great event.
