Disc brakes are here to stay

Cyclists shouldn't wear kit

Cyclists shouldn't go fast

Cyclists don't need that many gears

Everyone should be on a bent

Sometimes winter weather isn't fun

Something dumb about MUPs

If you spend more than $5 on bike stuff you've been duped by the industry

Something dumb about lube

Triples

Did you know that sometimes people aren't very good drivers

Have I missed any?

Missed the one about this is my style of riding (fast, slow, kit, kitless etc), you need to pat me on the back and give me kudos for having a superior style of riding.

Many of them are supposed to be. However some can develop 'layers' as they ripen in time on forums - mostly when misinterpreted or read into.

Some blossom into lives of their own even.

i'm expecting to be in Lincoln in a couple of weeks to ride in the gravel worlds, but I think instead I'll go try to find people on recumbents and tell them they're not real cyclists and are doing it all wrong

His alleged jokes were never funny the first out of the 100+ times he told them.

They are a cry for attention. Glad to have helped him.

Remember not to go fast or wear cycling-appropriate clothing at GW because otherwise you've been bamboozled by the evil marketing departments.

(ps GW is one of the most fun events I've ever done. Super challenging but also very well run and just a fun atmosphere all around.)

Yeah, I was supposed to do it last year when I was in town visiting family but I flew in late the night before (and coming from Omaha) and knew there was no way I would do well being up so early. I've got a few days of advance this year. I'm hoping to get under 8.5hrs, which I think is doable with my current fitness, depending on the course profile. I'll be in a CX skinsuit with no pockets (and plastered with club sponsors) so I'll be racer to the max!

Bicycle races do not have a fun atmosphere ever and those participating in the competition, and certainly the spectators Do Not Have any Fun at such events.
It's something else to get all bent out of shape about.

Your post is what is wrong with most young people today. I was happy to have the job, the money was good, and on any call out I automatically got 4 hours pay even if it only took 10 minutes to fix the machine. I worked there 47 years, get a great retirement check and great health insurance.

I wasn't speaking of those folks in the military or the first responders. I was speaking about the American workforce.

If you ride really fast and hard as you can, what have you missed on your ride? Now you are home quickly, and now what? TV these days stinks.

Riding fast and enjoying the scenery are not mutually exclusive.

I don't think speed has much to do with how long a ride lasts. Why is it so hard for OP to understand nobody cares what he rides, how long or what he wears? An intervention may be needed.

This was a hard day. 16 mile gravel climb with 3,200'+ of elevation gain and then a gorgeous, paved descent. The last shot is the view from my "home" that night. No shower, electricity, phone or TV.
