Consider this instead of a threadless stem conversion. Ive used the VO quill conversion and it is the nicest of the quill conversions, but if you want a project and also want threadless- consider the innicycle. It gives you threadless without the look of quill conversions.
Plus, it is designed and sold by forum member joejack.
I am going to use one on my next road frame project this winter.
Cheaper than a Ritchey carbon fork, keeps the matching color fork, and gives you the same project as a carbon fork of replacing the headset.

This frame has no bottle cage bosses so I'm probably going to find a frame bag that fits the bill and run that.

Keep in mind, that's 11 unique custom parts (14 if you count the spacer kit) plus bearings that go into this conversion headset. I'm not saying it's inexpensive but relative to standard threadless adapter there's a lot more going on.

I do wish these were a bit more subdued but I had a different set of wheels on it during the build that were mostly black and it was kind of "bleh". I may switch wheels again though, that's the nice thing about wheels, if you don't like 'em it just takes a couple minutes to switch them out. Back when I was still into old Chevies I'd run factory wheels but I'd have 2 or 3 different styles of center caps and 2 or 3 different styles of trim rings and I'd switch them out with different combinations every so often. It would change the whole look of the car in a matter of a few minutes.

FINALLY got everything together I needed to finish this build. Absolute mish-mash of parts that work together soooo well.
1970s Windsor with Campy dropouts, Campy housing and wire routing fitments, Dia-compe calipers.
Added a silver 105 crank, Dura-Ace Italian BB and 40T WolfTooth 1X ring
Sram Apex 10s Shifters free from my mom's leftover upgrade
Shimano R500 wheels I got for free from a crashed Cannondale SuperSix, fitted with 31mm Vittoria Terreno Drys
11-32 105 cassette and Sram Rival 22 long cage RD round out the shifting.
Dead silent, fits like a glove, can't wait to finish off the accessories. This frame has no bottle cage bosses so I'm probably going to find a frame bag that fits the bill and run that.

Here's mine. Had some issues getting into big ring for a few days after build, but shifts right as rain now thanks to the forums. Mostly 10spd 105, running the original cantis. Had its first "real ride" last week and all thats left is to shorten and clean up cables. My boy likes it too.

Here’s my 1984 Trek 660 that was stripped down to bare metal for a clear powdercoat before building it back up with a Dura Ace group I found on CL for cheap.

@JKohler that thing is perfect! All smoke and stealth. The 7900 Dura-Ace complements it just right. It also works so well.
