Anyone else having this caller id issue with Wahoo head units?
So, upgraded my phone to android 9, and now incoming calls do not show the name of caller. This is with Wahoo bolt/elemnt [both] with the Elemnt app.
Same issue with my wife's phone after she got a new phone with Android 9. Strange thing is that when a message comes in, the headunit shows who it is from, but not when a call comes in. Exact same behaviour on her Bolt and my Elemnt,
I'm on a Samsung Note 8, and she is on the Samsung S10 plus.
Any ideas?
Have already checked permissions and uninstalled, and re installed the app. This is a deal breaker for us.

Maybe you can inform Wahoo of your issue so they can investigate it from their end. Software changes always bring about small issues like this and the Wahoo folks weren’t expecting it so now a firmware update is most likely in order.
But they won’t work on it until people start letting them know.

Last year when I'd get a call or text it would show up on my wahoo bolt. This year nothing. Maybe I turned something off on accident? I also have samsung. I think a J5...whatever their cheapest one was. Not really a deal breaker though as I wouldn't stop and answer it anyway.

Non omnino gravis
I almost always have my phone on DND during rides. I say almost because I forgot to turn it on before the ride yesterday, and 2 calls came through. Displayed on my Elemnt Bolt without issue, unfortunately.
But I'm on an iPhone on the most current iOS. So I'm gonna say this is and issue with your phone/OS talking to the Wahoo, and not the Wahoo itself.

Works fine here on my Essential PH1 running Pie. I mention this because that phone runrs more or less vanilla Android...whereas Samsung is renowned for screwing things up into a state of non-standard anything.
It probably ends up being Wahoo's thing to patch on their end because Samsung broke something (again).

I get phone call notifications on my Elemnt but they don't show the caller ID because most of my calls are robocalls. I use a Pixel 2XL with Android 9. SMS shows sender if they are in my contact list. I will test this later today when I go on a ride. I agree with another poster to contact Wahoo.

Thanks guys. I get what you are saying. Wahoo said the same, that it must be an android issue.
I tested with a friends Garmin 1030, and all notifications are fine from my phone to the Garmin.
I have now just kept my hospital numbers as 'starred' contacts, and keep the phone on DND. So, if phone and Wahoo ring, I answer. If only Wahoo rings I don't. It's a poor work around though.

I tested on my Pixel 2XL and have the same problem. When the call rings all that shows is "incoming call" for numbers in my contact list too. I will contact Wahoo.I am running Android 9 with the April security update.

That would be great.
Pixel is supposed to be bare Android right?

The Pixel 2XL is an enhanced version of Android. Bare Android is One Android.
After I contacted Whao I got this email back from them:

Hello Rick,
I am sorry you are having this issue. We need to acquire some logs from your Elemnt for our developers to analyze. I have already sent the verbose log command to your Bolt. Please connect the Bolt to WiFi so the verbose logging command will go through. In order to send these logs please follow the below steps:
-Make sure your firmware is up to date
-Recreate the issue (have a text or phone call come in while your Companion App and Elemnt are actively paired)
-Note the exact date and time the issue occurs
-Navigate to the profile tab in the companion app and tap to the right of the profile image 5 times
-Select email support (include your ticket number in the subject line)
Be sure to include the time and date the issue occurred in your response.
