Cannondale 2.8 Shifter Boss Removal?
Does anyone know if the shifter bosses are removable on this '93 Cannondale R900? The paint is beyond touchup, and I'd like to have it powdercoated. The bosses appear to be made of cast potmetal or plastic.

Someone who knows more will surely have details, but I think those have a threaded shaft that goes through the down tube, connecting the left and right sides.

OP do you have the black plastic piece that came off the left boss?
You should be able to unscrew the brass portion, of the left boss, with an...an... 8mm IIRC but BECAREFUL. I'd dose it with a little penetration oil first. These things are prone to breaking especially the fixed right side snapping off.

Yes there a threaded rod/shaft that is fixed to and extends from the right shifter to the left shifter.

I'll see if I can coax these off without damage.

removal of down tube shifter boss — aluminum frame
(…this is an older thread but thought it better to add details to this one rather than start a new one):
Had to remove down tube shifter bosses off of an aluminum frame (Klein Quantum) and similar to above they screwed out fairly easily—in this case both sides were threaded but I started on the drive side of the bike based on Cannondales I’d seen before. Once loose I could easily pop loose the base plates.
