Suspicious bike shuts down Mall of America parking ramp

https://www.kare11.com/news/news_arti...storyid=878932
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- A "suspicious bicycle" forced the Mall of America (MOA) to close the east parking ramp Monday.
According to Mark Stehlik with the Bloomington police department, a bike was found on the first level (P1 East) of one of the MOA parking ramps with a battery and several wires attached to it.
Stehlik said the Bloomington bomb squad was called to inspect the bike that was chained to a railing.
By mid-afternoon, Bloomington police gave the all clear for the parking ramp to re-open when nothing was found and the owner was located.

Looks like it was someones lights. Go figure.

I guess none of the Mall of America security staff ride bikes in the dark.

Can't be a bomb without visable battery and wires.

Someday I want to take a pair of those blinking kids shoes, set the blinkies to on all the time and leave the shoes outside a store entrance (Hawaii / Japanese home style).

On my last European tour I was staying at a campground in Heidelberg, Germany. I was touring with a NightSun light system, the one with the NiCad cells in a water bottle with the leads coming out the nozzle. See where this is going? I left it plugged into the charger in the communal kitchen while I went sightseeing in town. When I returned later that afternoon there were two POLIZEI cars and a van parked next to the office. When I went to get my battery and charger they were gone. I though I had been ripped off and went to see the proprietor. By that time the cops had left. He sheepishly told me he though the battery might have been a bomb and called the police, who confirmed it was indeed a battery.

Why is everything with batteries and wires a bomb? It's called riding at night. Or possibly an electric bike, there wasn't a lot of detail. Brightened my day though!

I keep my iPod shuffle and ear buds in an old Altoids can. Only once has it gotten flagged going through airport security. I guess the mall cops are better at spotting these "dangers" things than TSA.

Right, but the claimed owner of the bike in the defunct article brought the thread back. I'm hoping to see what all the fuss was about.
