Pedal thread sizes
I have a Supercycle 18 speed bike that I need to get new pedals for. I took the old one and tried to match it up but all they had was 9/16" and 1/2" and neither of these fit. Are there other sizes available.

Are you aware the Left side is Left threaded?

only the French.. and they discontinued using that. 1/2 is exclusive to One piece cruiser cranks now.
you trying to fit a right pedal on the left side?
In the shop sometimes I chase the crankarm -pedal thread with the pedal tap.
minus the LBS service , have you tried threading the pedal in from the other side,
sometimes you can open up damaged threads by coming in from the back.
then go back to threading it in to the outside..

I am trying to put the R pedal on the right side and The L pedal on the left side and yes I'm aware of the threads. The new pedal that I have will fit into a 1/2" hole in a drill bit gauge but the old pedal is way to sloppy in the 1/2" hole. It will go into a hole two steps below 1/2" perfect.

So it is a one piece steel cruiser crank .
An 18 says they stuck a 3 ring on the crank and has 6 on the back wheel .
that is the only way it would use a 1/2" pedal ..
drag the bike down to a bike shop and have the damaged threads cleared up.
the Only other possibility is 9/16 x 20 TPI.

+1. Sounds like a OPC, and sounds like the threads were damaged. A new OPC crank will probably cost somewhere in the neighborhood of the shop repair.
