I didn't pedal a single time this weekend... ugh
4 soccer games, driving all over creation, shopping for some silent auction charity items... Man.
I got a flat in the last 2 miles of my last bike ride last week, so the rear tire is still flat. The bike is a filthy mess and needs a full wash. I got my new RD in the mail (warranty replacement), got a new BB and a new crank I need to put on and the parts are sitting on the kitchen table mocking me. I did get a non-warranty replacement for my Garmin 800 (the little dog ears busted off) too, but that's easy to put on.
Hopefully I'll be able to get all that done tomorrow afternoon because I'm itching to try out my new crank.
Anyway, I hope the rest of you had a more productive weekend, cycling-wise.

Now, that i'm back in my full tilt cycling mode, i know the UGH feeling when i don't get some pedaling in on the crazy weekends! If i have to i'll sneak a 30 minute session in on the Spin bike.
No Spin bike this weekend though... like you seen in my thread, i got my road bike out on Saturday for 19.5 miles, got the fat bike out today for nice little trail session and i have a vacation day tomorrow to go on a little trip with the fat bike to try some new trails... woohoo!

I saw that - nice work.
I bought a spin bike for my wife. She digs it.... I hate that thing. I just do.

I barely got out.....had to pry myself from NFL sunday blackhole. I rode by Pizza Port and was thinking about @PhotoJoe ride, where I might actually get to stop and drink there
Good luck next week.

The spin bike is very boring compared to the real thing, at least mine is.
I took my kids out to ride the trails today. We did a little more than 12 miles, but the wind was blowing hard so the first half felt like a lot of work. When we got home, the hubby and I both took a nap for several hours and woke up with sore legs. I usually do 30 minutes on the elliptical and another 30 of hula hooping, but I may skip it today. I feel like such a wimp right now.

22 high school senior photo shoots, editing a video project that's been on my desk for way too long and a Sunday evening sales call (no kidding, who asks for that!), I think my bike is now rusted to the hook on which it hangs. Oh, and I can't find my beanie. Not riding in the morning until I find it or buy more.
I'm really looking forward to the Pizza Port 80. One, it's motivating. I gotta be able to do the ride without, how would I put this.....DYING! And two, it's always a fun group of people.

Well @TrojanHorse you are doing better than I. Foot surgery has kept me off the bike since 21 October. With a month long vacation across the country chasin critters to put on the table I don't see me back on the bike til mid December.
What crank did you get. Going back to the way too cool mid-compact 36/52?
@jsigone - why watch football live? Don't got one of them new fangled DVR deals?

Alright! Foot surgery! I'm up to 4 now on my left foot. 3 were to correct a Lis Franc fracture and one was this modified bostrum thing to correct my self-spraining ankle last summer. What did you manage to do to yourself?
As for the crank, it's a SRAM Red/Quarq... still a compact. They don't make the mid-compact anymore for some reason.

I looked at my bikes a couple of times this weekend. It was cold and rainy on Saturday. Very rainy. Yesterday was cold with wind gusts of up to 40 mph. Not riding one weekend is not the end of the world.

If I use it other than in May (Giro) and July (Le Tour), I will spend less time working on my 5 bikes, ammo reloading or other unless crap. I could get one of those fancy cable boxes that I can watch stuff on my tablet.....

I prefer a Spin bike vs my bike on a trainer.... I try to hit the local Spin class but sometimes i have to ride mine at home... Only way i can get a good work out session is to turn on music video and force myself to spin through 10 of them! LOL!

Yesterday when I saw what the Patriots were looking at, I was going to take a picture of my backyard and send it to my counterpart in boston (you know, palm trees, blue skies, pool still full of water etc.) But I didn't.

Geez fellows, not a lot of good cycling news here. We got to get back with the program! I didn't touch a bike this weekend, however I did commute today via bike. I'm committed to continuing my bike commuting over the winter and today was the first day of riding home in darkness.

I hit my 2014 goal miles (2000) on the 28th (after an hour long ride in the rain)... and haven't got out to ride since. I haven't avoided cycling it was just I had let a few things go till later while I pushed ahead on my miles goal. Today I caught-up with my pre-winter choirs and even wrenched a little on an old vintage bicycle. But I ran out of time to go for a ride.
But tomorrow will be different (it always is). The weather is predicted to be warm(ish) and dry. I think I'll pass on trying to ready my vintage ride for tomorrow and just ride my daily rider instead.

I don't mind riding at night if I know the route, but I need to find some more visible clothing. E.g. my wind vest is black. I may go get a high vis one tomorrow but are there any out there that are truly reflective? I have an old jacket made out of illuminite that really lights up when headlights hit it. Unfortunately, it's really too large and doesn't breathe at all, so it's not terribly comfortable right now.
Got the bike cleaned, old RD removed, old crank and BB removed, swapped cassette to my other rear wheel, got the new BB & crank installed and the new RD is dangling by the cable right now - didn't have time to finish that up. Still need to tune the RD and reinstall the chain but that should be quick.
Pro-tip: remove the pedals BEFORE you remove the crank.
Hopefully I'll finish everything up tomorrow and get back on my normal riding schedule starting Wednesday.

Nights, no problem. I have a 7 mile long lighted and paved tow road along a canal, with no cross streets to slow me down. But it's one the the all-time wind tunnels. My Strava segments regularly show an average of 13-14 in one direction, 22-23 in the opposite.
