This bike shop called Bike Nerds down in Miami is unfortunately going out of business. It's owned by two cool dudes and I think their shop(s); they used to have one more shop that closed in November, have been open for about 6 years. Their main focus was the track and fixed gear/singlespeed community. That's where I got this from. Today was my first day there although I've been wanting to go visit their shop for about a year now. Support your local bike shop whenever you're able to. Especially if their locally owned. Anyways, stoked on this Dura-Ace NJS stamped 16t cog and thanks to Diego at Bike Nerds. I hope whatever you do after the end of the month gives you peace.
Its unfortunate. The LBS is a niche thing... often times a shop focuses on one demographic and ends up failing. It sucks, I love going to certain shops because of their speciality... but if you’re going to make it in this world of cycling it seems you have to diversify into uncomfortable territories.
Unfortunately, the combination of it being a truck to get down there from Ft Laudy and my habit of shopping too much on the LBS-killing Google machine have kept me away ever since, but I've recommended them many times as the best "Phiksie Shop" in SoFla, and even right here whenever a Dade/Broward user showed up asking for help. I rode a few times with a guy from Sunny Isles that posted here a little bit a while back who ended up buying a new Cinelli Super Pista frame along with most of the build parts from them. So I have the satisfaction of knowing that I brought them at least a little business.
I was glad for them when they opened the 2nd location a couple years ago, thought that it must mean that they were doing very well. But in retrospect, I wonder if it was not the start of their downward spiral...over-expanding too soon - multiplying expenses and work, but not increasing sales and profits enough to cover it, especially in today's tough market for LBSs is a recipe for disaster.
I've been wanting to get down there ever since I heard about their approaching demise, but...well, you know

Loose but unused Cane Creek SCR-5 left lever from ebay. Gonna replace my left Cane Creek dummy hood with this and get rid of the bmx lever Ive got on there now. This'll probably wait till I pick up some new bars though.

Very cool (GodAndFamous ). Their product is entertaining. I am still trying to understand their tagline. Must be local knowledge

A couple weeks ago, my wife got me a Brooks saddle for our anniversary (3rd anniversary is leather, so she's smart). This week I purchased a seat post and clamp for my SS bianchi rekord 841!

purchased the clamp, and then realized after it shipped that my bike has a bolt, not a collar. so, i bought a seatpost bolt. then, my idiot self didn't measure the length i needed, so i had to buy a second one.

I didn't buy these bars. They were given to me by a friend that just got a new Specialized hard-tail and gave me these 720m bars. I threw them on today and felt super fixie.

I bought a set of Phil Wood Road hubs rear being 126 freewheel anodized pink but I won't be seeing those till the summertime when the weather is hot 'cause they gotta make it and anodize it which they don't do with pink often. I will of course show pictures when they come in and maybe ask for advice on rims? I am thinking maybe a pink anodized Velocity rim to make it a complete MUSA wheel?
Also picked up a short Easton stem for my hybrid and slapped on some Surly Moloko bars a customer gave me it is a pretty fun ride though I am worried my stem is too short.

I was experimenting with new ways of seat height for a radical aero rake and look. The seat would have a more pronounced pivotal point axis so as for me to slide off the seat effortless into a posing stance.Nothing screams fast like a high seat post.LMFAO!!!
It looks unorthodox with the fork sticking out of the seat tube I would agree.I usually see this during the restoration process while the bike is awaiting service to being put together.Keeps frames and forks from being misplaced from one another.Soon after the picture was taken they were separated.

Thank God no just wanted to include the fork in the picture.Should’ve heard the gentleman on the other side of the phone when I called to complain that I wanted a refund.I told him the reason for the refund was that the frame set was made in Taiwan and that I should pay accordingly due to false advertisement of being Italian pedigrees.

I picked up some well used Archetypes. Not much life left on the breaking surface but I'm running fixed and it's forcing me to break with my legs more then I have in the past. Came with Dura Ace 9000 front hub and All City Track rear hubs. Also included a White Ind 17t freewheel but it needs some servicing, it makes noise when accelerating. But I'm happy with the the price and ride.

what did i just buy for my bike? everything
i saw this posted on r e d d i t (why is this censored?):
and commented that i liked it. someone read my comment and sent me a PM saying that they had a 55cm frameset that he'd sell me (my size). we settled on $325 shipped, and since then he has shipped the bike and i've researched and ordered everything else. was in no way planning on building up a fixed gear bike but inspiration hit i guess! saved a little bit of money with my industry discount from work (saved maybe $200 on the saddle, tires, and wheelset) and my grand total money spent was just under $1k.
here's the full build:
https://kit.com/am5k/all-city-big-block-build
copying the inspiration a lot (esp with the saddle) but gonna rock flat bars instead of drops
the idea of a whole bike being shipped from different locations across to the US all to the same apartment makes me laugh a bit. pretty stoked for everything to roll up! i'll definitely post a proper picture once it is all assembled and tuned to my liking.
