Squealing disk brakes

I have a raleigh cadent 3 that has incredibly squeaky brakes when at slow speeds with heavy pressure applied. When going at a decent pace and applying heavy pressure to the brakes, no noise. I cleaned the pads and rotors with brake cleaner and sand paper and they were quiet for one ride and then just as noisy the next time. Any ideas?

Usually you have to loosen the two caliper bolts and then squeeze down hard on the brake so the pads engage on the disk. Then tighten up the two bolts to the correct torque specification while the brakes are being applied. This centers the caliper correctly on the disk, so the squealing stops.

Are they hydraulic brakes? I had the same situation and the problem turned out to be a tiny leak inside the brake caliper. Mineral oil from the brake line was fouling the brake pad so it didn't matter how often I cleaned it, the squealing would come back when the oil got onto the pad. This came from years of neglecting my brakes, so I hope you're not like me!

Front, Only when wet. mine.. here.. [TRP HyRd, OEM pads] , had Avid BB7, putting organic pads on , helped there ,
will try that on the new ones, next..

OP... you buy new pads yet?

Raleigh buys the brakes from somebody else , I won't Guess who that may be ....

I get this a lot "live", so got down to writing it down in a structured, step by step instruction set, hoping I won't have to explain over and over again.

Hope it helps:
