Wal Mart bike dept purchase

I don't know about you but even in Wal Mart I feel obligated to look at the bike crap. So while doing that today, I actually came home with something. A Schwinn presta/schraeder 120 psi capacity pump with the pressure gauge at the top of the pump. Your basic pump for 25 bucks. I needed one so why not. Couldn't do much better anywhere else for this item. Works as good as any pump I've ever used anyway.

Admit it, what's your latest Wal Mart bike item purchase.

I have the same pump but I bought it from Target. No complaints. The only difference between this one and more expensive bike shop pumps is that it isn't built quite as solidly but that really isn't too important for something I take off of my garage shelf for 3 minutes at a time once or twice a week.

At Walmart the other day, I picked up a tool to open chains and $2.00 engine degreaser. I think that's where my helmet came from as well.

careful, i had that chain breaker... lasted me three days, and snapped like it was made out of pewter. get a park tool, just a few bucks more, and it'll last you a lifetime.

I think I bought something at WM in the early 90's. Can't remember what it may have been.

I was at Sears (they're all pretty much the same store as Walmart now, anyway,) and bought some of those extra extra super thick tubes with the Slime on the inside for a beater bike I have that seems to always want to go flat because of goatheads and such. They work pretty dang well.

I have the same pump at work. It works, and that is about all you can say about it. It isn't nearly as smooth as better models, and it takes quite a bit more effort to get the higher pressure into the tire, but it definitely works and the price was right. I bought mine from Target one evening when I needed to top my tire off at work before going home.

Speaking of Slime, that's something else I saw there today, every conceivable quantity and application it seemed. Near the car tires (duh) and RV area.

I bought a brown, synthetic leather saddlebag. The kind you hang on the back of yer seat. I'm using it on the handlebars of my FG commuter. It's made by Bell and is a perfect match for my Brooks bar tape.

I'm going to have to add some reinforcement inside the bag to help it keep it's cylindrical shape, but it's synthetic and so far has been impervious to rain/sun.

It looks nicer than the 20 bucks I paid for it.

I get the same allergic reaction as BAC...if my wife insists on going in there, I'll wait in the car. I went in once and the place was a mess, overcrowded, under stocked, under staffed, and really not any bargin...no thanks.

I seldom go to walmart but did today. I wanted to inspect a Denali up close to see how crappy it really was or wasn't, on account of the review threads running here. They didn't have one. While there I did look at all the other bike stuff. They had a can of tire sealant for fixing and inflating flat tires for less than two bucks. I wondered how well this stuff would work. I didn't buy anything.

Once I bought a drive chain at walmart for an old Schwinn cruiser. When I tried to put it on I found out it was too short!

Believe me, I'm usually the same way. My wife sent me there today for other stuff. I came away spending a lot less money there than she usually does so that's a good thing. That was even with the pump purchase. btw, the reason I looked in the bike section to begin with was to see if by chance they carried any 700c tubes. Nope.

I got a pump a few weeks ago, too, after the one I bought a little over a year ago crapped out. Got the same model, paid the same 9 bucks. Don't need a dual head, or a gauge -- but that's me.

How about $70 worth of school supplies, does that count, or are we just talking bike stuff? (if it's just bike stuff, then it's the pump. BTW -- how many have seen the carbon bottle cage there for $20?)

I had taken a trip to Michigan (in my truck), but brought the bike along for a ride one morning. I realized that I had left my helmet at home. The town I was in had no bike shops, so I ran by WalMart and bought a new helmet for $20. As far as styrofoam hats go, it's as nice as the $50 one I bought elsewhere.

I'd still rather avoid WalMart when possible though.

If you like, or don't mind shopping at walmart, no excuses are necessary.

No bike parts exactly... I recently bought a Casio G-Shock at Wal-Mart which is the watch I like to wear when I am biking if that counts.

Price isn't the main attribute of a brake cable to me. I know, it's crazy.

Do you mean a chain degreaser? $2 is a sick price for that.

I noticed this aswell at mine. I stopped using white Lighting and now go with Purple Extreme.

I bought a pump there once, not a Schwinn. It actually couldn't do 120psi.
So I got a Topeak JoeBlow Sport at my LBS for $25. I love it. I have gotten other people to buy it. i think its a great deal.

I don't like walmart but scene it came to our town our Kroger doesn't stay open after 12pm. stupid.
