So we're going away on this epic vacation to Canada in less than two weeks and my wife is having trouble finding cycling/mountain biking clothing to fit her. She's a pretty big girl, deep into the plus-size clothing. Unfortunately, it's been impossible to find any type of cycling clothing that will fit her.

We're going to be doing a lot of mountain biking and apparently the average temperature where we're going to be is between 55-65 degrees, which isn't freezing, but it's going to be cool.

FWIW, it hasn't been easy for me to find anything either, and I'm 5'11 and about 215 lbs.

Any suggestions of where to find some clothes?

I am 5'8" and around 230... I find plenty to fit at terrybicycles.com, mtborah.com or teamestrogen.com. Check Plus size clothing. On the teamestrogen site I love the Canari plus size jerseys.

For tops; JC Pennys carries an excellent line of fitness wear in plus sizes. While not cycling jerseys per se, they are of a nice light weight wicking fabric and fit well. For instance:

The JCP site also has long sleeve options (although buy some arm warmers which is a good option).

If she likes to wear mountain bike shorts, what I do is buy a good lycra cycling short, like a Terry T-short and then buy a men's runner short (from say REI) that contains some polyester/spandex/lycra in it.

A word of warning about the Terry shorts: they fit big - very big. I knew this when I ordered a pair and got a size down from what my measurements indicated that I needed. They were still a bit too big. And the padding is like a bath sponge. Personally, I've gotten better fit and chamois types from larger sized unisex shorts.

My GF just bought some Novara capris and a skirty thing from REI. She loves them. They also have cycling liners that are basically knickers + a chamois so you can wear whatever on top of them. Inexpensive and they fit her well.

FWIW, I'm 6'1" and 265 or so, and the Novara stuff in XL/XXL fits me just fine. Mountain and road.

Just an FYI - it depends on which Terry short you buy. I prefer the T-short not the club or liberty model which are bigger. And being large I still only wear an XL not plus size but I am smaller on the bottom than my top. Conversely I tend to wear 2X tops as I don't like them too form fitting.

And I like the thick padding in both the Terry and Shebeest short but Terry does offer different chamois options - some are very minimal - but that's something your wife will need to decide.

Also to add: I have purchased very expensive cycling tights or knickers for cool weather riding. They are fine but a better option for me is now use my existing short and at JCP I buy a knee length or lobger tight to pull over the shorts. Plus with that if it gets warm on the ride, I can pull off the tight and put it in my pack. Price is very reasonable - like about $25 v $125!
