Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Handlbars similar to Pro Vibe 7s

Hey All,

I've tried searching, but I haven't found anything. I really like how the 31.8 (or is it 31.7) diameter extends the entire length of the top of the handlebar and I'm trying to find handlebars similar to the Pro Vibe 7s. Originally I was thinking of the Deda 35 system, but I think that's a little too thick for my liking and the lack of 35 stems is something i'm not fond of. Currently i'm using an FSA Wing Pro compact and although I like that i'm looking to vary my options.

Any ideas on similar handlebars with the oversized section lasting the entire width of the top portion of the drop bar?

TIA

I recently upgraded to the Fi'zi:k Cyrano R3 Fi'zi:k Cyrano R3 Chameleon Handlebar | Competitive Cyclist it's at a similar price point. I'm really loving them so far (about 150 miles). Be aware there are three styles of the same model with differing degree of drop.

Just curious, but what's wrong with getting a set of Pro Vibe 7s bars? They would not just be "similar" but identical. Maybe you should say what you don't like about the Pro Vibe 7s. By the way, I am thinking of buying the Pro Vibe 7s compact bars because I like the shape a lot.

Nope, the only one I know of other than Deda and I bought my PRO bars for that reason.

I can't really offer up much more than the Deda 35 or the PRO Vibe Sprint (basically stiffer Vibe 7s).

But, I'll say that i have the Vibe 7s and I really like them. Weight is reasonable (~270g for 44cm), but stiffness is great. Prior to the Vibe 7s, I had the Ritchey WCS curve which were lighter (~235g for 44cm), but not nearly as stiff.

i don't own a Pro Vibe 7s yet, but as of right now it's the leading bar on my short list. I was just wondering if there were more handle bars like it to compare before i made a purchase. I'm building a new road bike and am looking for options. i really like the Pro Vibe 7s (and Sprint version) for its common size (31.8), the thicker tops, light weight, and stiffness. the only bar i've owned & liked is the FSA Wing Pro Compact, but i'm looking to expand my horizons as i don't have too much experience with handlebars. I've tried the Easton EA70 on something that was given to me, but i didn't like the narrow feel of the tops and prefer thicker or flat/aero tops.

have you noticed any additional harshness with the Vibe 7s? the bike that it'll go on will slowly become my race bike (after i get over how much i'm spending on it), but i will be riding it for longer road races and rides.

Which bend do you have? There are 3 of them. I am looking at the compact bend.

I'd say stiffer or solid, but not more harsh. There is less noticeable flex when climbing or really pulling on the bars, but it isn't more harsh.

I've been considering the 7s bars to replace the old anatomics on my Tarmac. I'm torn between the compacts or the rounds myself. I like the idea of a classic drop but I've never found a pair to put my hands on them.
