Just getting my stuff ready for Saturday's century ride.
Will be completing the Seagull century Saturday morning with around 8000 others.
Been back riding a year and this is my big goal for the year.
I don't have a time but just want to finish with a little in the tank to get me off my bike to the massage table.
Will report in after the ride.

Good luck! I'm riding my first century Saturday as well, self-supported and likely solo. Right now I only hope to be able to finish in less than 8 hours if at all possible. A little nervous but I did well two months ago when I did a metric so I'm confident I'll make it. For your first year back in the saddle, I congratulate you for taking such a challenge so quickly. What was your longest ride this year?

Thanks all. My longest ride this year was 81 miles with around 3000 ft of climbing. This ride is practically flat. They say it can be gusty but weather at the moment says it's calm.
The worst thing is that I have to drive 3 hours before the start to get there and 3 hours after, so early start for me. My wife hasn't supported me on my riding but that's another story.

Just got home after a long day. Was up at 230am to drive down and just got home.
Great ride. Cold start but warmed up and light wind. Ended up doing 101 miles with a erase of 16mph.
Feel good just a little achey.
Going to carb up now.
Met some great people.

Thanks for the feedback. Feeling great and even thinking of doing the century in Easton MD in just over two weeks, though not sure it's worth the fight with my wife.
if I did I would get arm warmers for the start of the ride. I found I was chilly and didn't take my jacket because I thought it would warm up. Also the humidity was higher being near the water so that made it feel cooler too.
Going to sign up for membership to Randouners of America so I can ride next year. Have my pain cave set up for my colder weather indoor training. Going to keep the mileage up and focus more on my diet so I start the year in better shape.

Do they still have pie and ice cream at one of the stops? How about the beer garden at the finish? I haven't done the ride since '97.
Where are you located? There is a nice event on 10/11 out of Delaware Water Gap, PA called the Black Bear Century. Bears are usually seen on the ride. There are several different route options. Registration closes this coming Monday. We have made a weekend out of it, staying at the Day's Inn in E. Stroudsburg, PA. Your wife might like to drive around through the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area to see the scenery. There is at least one waterfall (Bushkill Falls) she could visit. She might also be interested to see historic Milford, PA.

My wife has no interest in my biking nor anything to do with me improving my fitness. Not sure what is the reason, but it's possibly due to her being in worse shape than me and feels guilty.
She said she doesn't care what I look like but after my father got sick and quickly passed away I knew I needed to get in shape for myself.

Ah. That's a bit far for the Black Bear. I rode through downtown York last September during a cross-state tour. I took the GAP from Pittsburgh to Cumberland, MD then headed up the Bedford, PA to pick up PA Bike Route S, which goes through York. Camped in E. Berlin the night before. Tried to beat rush hour but failed. There wasn't enough light for me to hit the road early enough.
