My first "big" ride today (I'm a noob!) at 40 km's (~25 miles) ended up being further, longer and more enjoyable than I anticipated. Mostly coastal and boy, the headwind on the way back burnt!

But it was worth it. Ended up at a WWII memorial than I didn't even know existed!

Please forgive the crappy phone photos.

Planning to hit Ghost Town myself one of these trips. Over by Pittsburgh here.

Last Friday we laid out the plans for Memorial Day weekend with a camping trip on Pine Creek Trail from Jersey Shore to Wellsboro. That is until my buddy went home and told his wife all about our plans. "Don't you think it would be rude not to go to your daughter's wedding?" LOL. Re-planning the trip.

Went to City Island in the Bronx last night. I use my folding bike most of the time for commuting and my road bike for my "weekend rides". The past 2 days, weather was great so I went with my Trek 7.2fx and just rekindled how fun a hybrid bike is especially in an urban environment. Even as people on road bikes say that the hybrids are sluggish and heavy, they are still a lot of fun and really capable. One thing I appreciate about my fx is that I don't have to worry as much as with my others bikes with road conditions.

Went on a nice ride Saturday, the wind had finally calmed down and the weather was wonderful. Rode the trail north and stopped a brewery/restaurant for a early lunch then back downtown for a few tacos and a couple beers. I wish everyday could be that day.

In case of any confusion, I'm near Pittsburgh, Pine Creek trail is not. Jersey Shore, PA is a little north east of State College and the Pine Creek Trail is 62 miles due north to Wellsboro. It goes through Tiadaghton State Forest and a little into the Susquehannock State Forest.

Still socking money into the bank for a place to live so I'm missing out on all the week long trips being planned for Pitt to DC and across the Erie Canal Buffalo to Albany, but we're planning a lot of extended weekend camping trips such as Pine Creek, maybe Ghost Town Trail, and riding up from Butler to Pymatunning and camping there a couple of nights.

I was on a business trip half-way across the country the last 3 days - my flight back yesterday was actually cancelled because of bad weather - it was snowing heavily, so I had to burn a whole day today traveling back on standby... when I got home I found it was +10 degrees C and a beautiful spring evening, so I took my Giant Roam 1 out for a cruise through some of the MUP's connecting the stormwater retention ponds in my neighbourhood. Snow here is completely gone, but the ice is still on the lake!

Cheers

Riding around Riverside today on beautiful day. In the park- folks playing bluegrass, and a lady relaxing on the grass:

We live across the road from the large county park, so we have a lot of opportunities to get out and wander around. The bright sunshine today made for a couple of great pictures.

Got my hand in the last pic, trying to shield my phone's camera from the direct sun. The crushed limestone gravel roads like we have here are where tires like the Continental SpeedRIDE tires really excel.

This is a 2015 Trek Verve 3, and is the most comfortable bike I've yet ridden. Look forward to lots of photo ops this season.
