Just picked up a Brooks B17 green apple saddle and similarly colored CB Mallet E pedals. I also replaced the stock brake rotors with floating rotors and increased the front from 160 to 180, didn’t need it but I was bored.

Road bike stuff for the gravel bike...




Ive been through half a dozen saddles. The 2 saddles Ive chosen (actually picked out and bought myself as opposed to what came on a bike or were given to me) I have had the best results with. Each one was so close but seemed to fail in one area.

Hopefully the SMP is the winner.

The handlebars were chosen for the wider tops. I have bigger hands and was looking for some more room to stretch them out.

I like that setup, what mount are you using?

The fork has cage and rack mounts. The light mount is from Problem Solvers.

Several other manufacturers make similar products including Origin8.

I'm actually using only part of the Problem Solvers mount to which the light attaches via a GoPro style mount rather than using the rubber strap as intended. My concern is having the light fall off on rough gravel, hence the desire to have it bolted on.





The cone shaped metal piece is pretty heavy. My intent is to look through the fastener drawers at Lowes to see if there is some lighter nylon tubing which can be used instead.

I'm sure something could be cobbled together using bolts and tubing without the need for the Problem Solvers mount. It's really just an M5 bolt stuck through the light's GoPro mount and some kind of standoff to keep it far enough away from the fork (so that the crabon doesn't catch fire and assplode )

Thanks! My new bike has mount points on the fork and I like the idea of not having the lights taking up space on the handlebars. And I agree, I'd want them bolted on, no rubber straps.

I'm not partial to Bontrager products but if I was I'd test the Flare ANT+ remote controlled lights. A pair of remote controlled lights would be perfect mounted on the fork blades.

I also have an Exposure Strada 1200 (discontinued) under the GPS and a Light & Motion Vis Pro 600 on my helmet.





Right now the Exposure 1200 and Vis Pro 600 do this...

Skinnystrippers. I'm experimenting with converting to tubeless and this looks like a really great idea.

They're great. I used them all of last season gravel and cx season as insurance on tubeless ready wheels but they do make things more burp proof at extremely low pressures where you are bottoming out the rim, but still won't save you if there is a lot of lateral force being applied ie off camber descending where tubulars remain supreme

I was able to get a good seal on some WTB Riddler tires and Shimano non-tubeless rims that I did with one layer of Stan's tape and one layer of Gorilla tape to build up the bed a bit. Rode them around without sealant last night to test them out. Held fine for a short ride but were flat this morning. I'm looking forward to seeing how they skinnystrippers work.

So, I finally broke down and bought some real shoes during Five Ten's Memorial Day sale. These completely sucked on the stock DB pedals with terrible grip as compared to the Fila shoes that I had been using. After hearing everyone rave about the grip these shoes should have, I decided to try different pedals. I purchased the Fooker nylon composite pedals to give them a shot. I am a huge proponent of supporting my LBS, but when I can get these for less than half of the Race Face Chesters, it allowed me to violate my moral obligation.

Needless to say, this morning's ride, with new shoes and pedals, was like having my feet glued to the pedals. I can't wait to get these shoes out on my mountain bike - which has true Chester pedals.

i have these same pedals on one of my bikes and i love them! i do feel a little dirty about rocking some amazon china special pedals but, as you said, the price can't be beat.

feels weird posting after myself, but i finally bit the bullet and bought myself a brooks today. b17 imperial on the way. they always say buy once cry once, but they don't tell you that sometimes the crying doesn't stop for a long time

These are arriving today. I should have known from my road shoes that I prefer the Boa setup. My Giros will be backup shoes.

Did 73 miles with them on gravel on Sat, and 40 miles on the road on Sun, they were great!
