Why ? If for no other reason than it makes it confusing for new members trying to get ten posts it would make sense to change it. Internet Brands is not a group of cyclists, it's an internet forum looking to have as many views / clicks as possible to lure advertisers.

I think the ten posts related to cycling rule is a good one. I spend as little time on forums as possible, had no problem getting past ten posts—and I haven't even looked at all the possible sections yet.
I think too many people are too used to instant gratification. To paraphrase Master Sun, if you cannot wait, you cannot succeed.

for some reason, the bots always targeted general cycling, even when it was at the bottom of the forum. Seems to me that the number of newbies that have posted in foo trying to get their post count up is pretty small.
What I'm seeing here is that there are some people that want to see more pictures of vintage rare AMF 10 speeds that the person would be interested in selling.

When I first read the title of this post, I recalled reading a thread in which one of the senior members criticized a new member for simply asking a question that, apparently, had been asked and answered a number of times before. The public dressing down that the new member received was enough to make me think twice about starting a new post with a question to the group. One thing I do know from experience is that a great online forum can be be more fragile than we may think. I enjoy reading journals of cycle tourists and my favorite website (devoted to cycle touring) went through some difficult times in the past few years. Disagreements between users and between users and the webmaster turned quite personal and resulted in many of the most knowledgeable and interesting long-time forum users leaving the site. The site has suffered as a result. Keeping an open and welcoming environment for new members and respecting differences of opinion between senior members will ensure this great little gathering place survives for years to come. Thanks Randy for your great website and for starting this thread.

In short, I think a newbie who is truly interested in something bicycling relate will find it pretty easy to meet the requirements of the ten posts.
Thank you and cheers

I came; I made my ten bicycling related posts and then I started to really enjoy the various forums. I'm very thankful that so much is being done to keep out the spammers and the pure Trolls. I've see many other groups including Usenet ones get completely take over by spammers and/or trolls. I'm so thankful that there isn't that much of either here. It's really nice to have a place where a question can be asked and a answer related to that question is given. On a certain Usennet group a question can be asked about something bicycling related and within three answers the thread is hijacked to something totally unrelated to the thread title. The person most responsible for doing that calls it topic drift but it's hijacking plain and simple. In other groups a bicycling question gets posted and your emails says that you have X number of replies but when you go to check those replies they're all from Spam Bots. I really do like the forums here and am very happy that i discovered this community.

Though I probably spend more time on the laptop than I'd like to acknowledge, taking part in 10 conversations on this site is taking me a while. Those who support the rule (which prevented me from posting a photo) about newbies, posts and photos are either more fully immersed in the culture and technoloy of bicycling... or maybe they think the rest of us have a lot of free time to hover over our keyboards. I'll get to 10 posts eventually. I'm now one post closer... meanwhile I'm trying to find appropriate parts for my 1950 Rudge Sports. (Sorry, no photo)
Meanwhile, if you have a 1950 Rudge you need parts for, that's a fertile field that should result in you being able to make lots of valid posts.

I joined 8/9/16. This is my tenth post. I use Google to answer most of my questions. In my opinion most people who post want to expound or chat and can get to 10 posts very quickly. So now, because this is the vintage forum, I would like to say, i.e. , to expound, that tan sidewalls are ugly. They are ugly on vintage bicycles, new bicycles, narrow tires, and wide. When choosing a tire please choose black. Thank you.

Three now. I fail to see the difficulty that spawned this thread. I'll bet you could get up to four in mere moments.

Maybe we should just put this one to bed now. It's almost to A&S stature. Approaching orbit around the Foo moon almost.
No, I'm not saying it's a Foo post, let's not revisit that
PS Notice that my post count has stayed about the same because I do post a lot to Foo.

Maybe this thread will surpass the "Ironman" thread in terms of replies.
