the new Epicly Latered starts off showing Cards riding his bike around town a bit. Not bad for a dude who was told he would never walk again.

That was my fave part too. I had a friend who was told he wouldn't walk after a really bad scuba accident. He walked in two weeks, and re-learned soccer from the ground up.

"This is the first [epidemiological] study to examine whether smoking marijuana increases risk of head and neck cancers," said Zuo-Feng Zhang, MD, lead author of the study and member of the Jonsson Cancer Center at the University of California Los Angeles. "Most people don’t think about marijuana in relationship to cancer. The carcinogens in marijuana are stronger than those in tobacco. The big message here is marijuana, like tobacco, can cause cancer."

unfortunately...

"Writing in the journal Cancer Epidemiology Biomarker and Prevention, Zhang said he studied 173 patients diagnosed with head and neck cancer, and compared them to 176 cancer-free control patients. Those who said they habitually smoked marijuana were more likely to be in the group with head and neck cancers. And the more they smoked, the bigger the risk."

"The results need to be interpreted with some caution in drawing causal inferences because of certain methodological limitations, especially with regard to interactions."

I'm not saying that pot is completely harmless and a wonder drug, it just seems that its not the strongest study in the world.

173 and 176 people is hardly what I would consider a large enough population to state that pot smokers are statistically more likely to have cancer. Lord knows that if that many people were used in a study and it proved that their was no link between pot and cancer the medical community would not take it seriously. I'd bet my life that bike riding is more dangerous than pot, even with brakes and a helmet.

There, now both sides have weighed in. Now lets just leave it at that before this turns into the next brakes vs. no brakes vs. helmets vs. no helmets bs.

Inspirational, I knew someone in a similar situation, went into coma and was told he wouldn't make it and if he did he would be brain damaged. Three months passed by, he came out of it, no major damage done, brain is fully functional and he says he heard and remembers all the convo's people had while he was in coma.

But this guy went through something like that, and you would think he would wear a helmet, no?

There's a picture in the bathroom at DLX in SF of a guy doing a big frontside ollie on a ramp. Everyone thinks it's Cards. It's actually me and that's one of the most inspiring things I have going for me. He's an all time hero and I'm stoked he pulled through..... but did we really ever doubt him?

BTW, did any of you see the footy of him trying to board slide that rail next to the tree when he staked hard enough to end a career? That's what you gotta respect.

and it's pretty hard to judge whether marijuana alone causes cancer seeing as most heavy pot smokers probably smoke cigarettes too. And even if pot is like 5 times as cancerous like those commercials say, i don't know anyone who smokes joints like cigarettes(well, i do, but those people are boring).

After seeing this video and releasing there are 15 more parts, i am no longer upset by the fact that I decieded to stay in because none of my friends are doing anything interesting

edit:15 minutes later i realize they only have the first 2 parts on there.

the last episode is out today and Cards talks about his new love of riding fixed gear bikes (he explains in episode 15 that his left ankle doesn't work so well yet and the constant motion of the cranks is perfect for him). the guy said some of the funniest lines ever throughout these videos. go watch em all if you haven't been keeping up.
