Might have been easier with a fully inflated rear tire.

San Francisco is one of the worst cities for piano-bicycling.

Read the story. This guy toured Afghanistan to play for the troops. Nothing "hipster" about that.

Very cool that someone gave him a replacement piano.

Can't imagine what he felt going downhill with hundreds of pounds pushing him along. He needs some air powered trailer brakes.
Out of curiosity I looked at Bay street on google street view.

Can't imagine trying to pull a piano up or down this street.

I'd trade the piano for a harmonica...

I'm a bit skeptical of all this. Like, what's all that stuff in the piano case, and more importantly, why can't I see the cast-iron frame in there? I think it should be visible from that angle.

Besides, he could be toting an electronic keyboard and amp with battery power in a much lighter and smaller package. They make really good ones now. This doesn't add up.

You're right that it is an electric piano in baby grand frame. The trailer is also powered--this story does a better job of explaining what happened, and includes the actual folding bike he was riding when it crashed: https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/...photo-17039553
