21 miles as a bike commuter today. Pretty danged hot.
less than 4 months of bike commuting opportunities for me. (Age-related joblessness getting closer)

Am I getting too old? Beautiful bike day - 50's and mostly sunny so I planned on a ride to Love Lake. 35 mi total + - a bit. Long story short I was about two miles short of goal and had to quit.

It looks like most of the remnants of Tropical Depression Gordon will pass south and west of us.
However, this morning while out on my bike ride it quickly became cloudy with wind gusts increasing suddenly.
With that wind blowing me all over the road I shortened my ride to only 90 minutes.

Been having a bit of a medical problem over the last two weeks so my riding has slowed down some unit we figure out what's going on. Did a nice and easy 20 mile ride with the wife on Sunday and decided to do a ride this morning (before seeing my doctor tomorrow). Ended up with a 40 mile ride with my buddy Frank C, but we kept the speed at no more than 16 mph until after I see the doc. I'm sure he's going to get on me for riding this morning, but - Oh Well!

Couple miles to and from the grocery store for cat food. First ride in a week, feeling puny lately. Warmed up enough to finish 30 minutes on the indoor trainer, since it was raining again.

Yesterday and Wednesday got in 12 mile rides after work.
Today - nada. Very very wet on the drive home from work and merely wet most of the evening. Saturday forecast is 100% chance rain AM and PM. Related to previous tropical storm.

66 miles with the local 'A' ride (22 mph +). I'm regaining fitness after too much travel this summer, but still way down in form. This was the 2nd week now that I could actually get in front some and help with the work - which felt GREAT - until one pull too many. I have a habit of riding how I think I should ride, not how I can actually ride.

32 mi and another attempt to reach Love Lake - about 3/4 mi away from goal and quit after 1,700 feet of climbing to reach 10,000 foot level. AIR THIN. Pretty sure I can make it next time.

66 miles yesterday in the "Closer to Free" ride in CT. Longest effort all year, and probably since high school.

zip this weekend. 4 inches of rain in our backyard rain gauge last 3 days.
But forecast is favorable. Riding to work Monday AM.
No hurricanes forecast for Indiana.

Did a new ride on the gravel bike today. 7 miles of pavement followed by 5 miles with 2000' elevation gain. It was kind of hot. I was grinding my way up the dirt when about 1/2 mile from the top it got steep. I didn't want to not make it so I got off and started to walk. A guy passes me on the steep part. Ok, he's easy 25 years younger, but then I notice he's riding a single speed. Looked to be about 44 up front/20 in the back. Maybe I should have stayed home.

I don't post much on here and need to be better about it.

I finally go to participate in the Bike MS New Bern ride. Completed the 100 mile ride yesterday. Boy was it hot. The event is awesome. Great support and Sags that are very well organized. Over 2k riders this year. I was able to complete it in 5hrs and 49 minutes. Looking forward to next year.

22+ mph - wow! That sounds great! I've just gotten to the point of being able to count on 13-15 mph, but I'm happy with that, after years at 11-13. Fighting knee pain and my PT, who wants me to limit riding to 13 miles - but after adjusting my bike, my knee doesn't hurt any more on the bike than off, so....

25 miles yesterday, low-mid 60s, 15-20 mph SE wind, half with the wind, half against it. I rode 13-16(sic) mph going S & E alone, 11-13 going N & W with local bike club.

Rosh Hashanah today and tomorrow, but I do believe I'll ride tomorrow afternoon.

First outdoor ride in a week. Test ride in the afternoon, then another later after some cable replacements and adjustments. About 12-14 miles altogether.

Installed Nitto albatross bars borrowed from a friend (which I'll buy from him if he's selling - they're really comfy, especially while my busted up shoulder is still healing). Then my second older Shimano indexed thumb shifter broke, so I replaced it with Sunrace friction shifters. Replaced the old cables and housings, which required resetting the cantilever brakes -- PITA, but finally got it done.

Starting to get my strength back after a bout with a wonky thyroid -- still need to see an endocrinologist, but the biopsy and other tests indicate it's not cancer. So, yay. Feeling much better than a few weeks ago when I could barely walk, let alone ride my bike.

Between doctor visits and other things going on, I haven't posted in a few days. Until the docs come up with something, I've been doing some slower rides but have been keeping the distance the same. 3 40 mile rides since Friday and a 25 mile ride prior to that.

Had the Propel ready to go at 8:15AM but changed my mind at the last minute before heading out. Instead I hopped on the 2018 Roubaix Expert for a slow and HOT 103 miler. Stopped at Wendy's at mile 80 for a 50cent chocolate Frosty, baked potato and Senior drink. Hit the spot, cooled me down and made the final 23 miles in 90+F temps not too bad.

12 miles Tuesday evening on the freshly tweaked hybrid. Just loafing along at 12 mph, felt good. Ready to try some longer rides again, since the swap to an albatross bar from the flat and riser bars feels better on the aching shoulder.
