2hrs last night with 1x10min steady state and 3x2min power intervals. Did the SS into the wind and the PIs with the wind. Hit the targets nicely and legs felt good. They're starting to come around again. Happy with the performance considering the hard group ride on Sunday. I will probably ride like ass tonight, but that's ok.

First race next Friday!

ok, so we should probably let this go. Siu asked Mike to let it go and move along, and encouraging the continuation of this particular thread probably won't help things settle down.

But to your point, I am indeed pretty ****ing smooth.

For the sake of the board, I've removed what was previously posted.

I realize people on this board get frustrated at some of the newer riders but understand this site is not the only place we get advice. Sometimes its the opposite of what we're told here.

In the past my training was always to ride to failure, or just lackadaisically pedal along. If it was 60, 20, or 1 miles I would go as hard as I could for the distance, and usually blow up near the end. No rest weeks, just put in as much mileage as the legs allowed. I literally did this until my legs fell off last month and got hurt. I've since hired a coach who is trying to ween me of that habit. Its funny, he'll have me ride at a wattage I think is a joke, but since its a steady number I can do the whole distance, its actually faster than going all out and blowing up.

i just find it laughable when dudes spend $1500 on a powermeter and $0 on educating themselves to the bare minimum of being able to understand that bad days happen and that you can't set a pr every time you throw your leg over a bike.
How do you find it when dudes spend $xxx thousand and yy years on a degree and "work a minimum wage job at a coffee shop and don't plan on using anything to do with my degree"?

Let it go. Point was addressed. No need to counter ad hominem with more ad hominem. I have many friends who take off some time after college in order to recuperate from the grind at top notch colleges.

There are plenty of days when I stare out of the window daydreaming about leaving the career for which I acquired degrees from fancy schools in order to get a job at a coffee shop.

Agreed and though this is a training thread I must admit that there are many days when I wish life were more simple...

Cracked toward the end of my intervals yesterday. HR was through the roof but the power just wasn't getting delivered. Manged to limit my losses and was only down on power by about 10%. I was redlining hard. After I finished I had to actually coast for awhile to regain my senses. Barely held Z2 on the way home lol. Finally started feeling decent right as I got to the house.

I hope todays intervals hurt less

Good thing you hired a coach and hopefully he helps advance your cycling ambition. Is he local or one of the online type

pretty sure that's a normal human thing. we did not evolve to live in specialized society, bombarded by lights and noise and choices and whatnot 24/7.

Ever go camping and just stare at the fire? That's closer.
