Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

We had a huge avocado tree at that house with all the fruit trees. Damn squirrels ruined all of them. They take one bite and drop the avocado on your car. I did not shed a tear when my landlord's cat killed one and ate it in front of the other squirrels.

I think that I have decided to give the waxing faff a whirl. Rather than go full-faff with a home-brew option, I think that I'll go half-faff with Molten Speed Wax this time around. Also, I looked up cheap slow cookers online and I see that Target has 2q CrockPots for a measly 10 bucks, so I'm going to pick up one of those as it'll give me a little more room to do more than one chain at a time.

So this morning on the news I heard that there was a stickup in my 'hood. Didn't catch the whole story, but at the end I heard them say there was another one two weeks ago. On my block. Could be time to join Next Door.

Geez, I lost track of this thread.

Weekend completely got away from me with no riding. I did 2-3 hours manual labor each day working on a patio build that is overdue.

The event I was "training" for is cancelled. It was in conjunction with the NAHBS show which just got postponed due to coronavirus concerns. There will still be an event, but now I don't know where it will be or what the format will be. To make it up, they are going above and beyond by giving us entry to an event that day as well as the august date, and even one on the 15th, but that will be a few hours away and I just don't have time to make it with all my upcoming travel and work/home duties.

Work is officially killing me. I have basically three or four major projects all bearing down at once and I am trying to get everything in order because I am supposed to be out all next week. So I need to somehow put a cap on major projects while also planning enough work to ensure my people have plenty to do while I am gone. And I'm still having to keep an eye on whether or not people get in at 8. Yay. Work is sapping me so much that I am losing a lot of motivation for everything outside of work, including being a reasonable human who is nice to their family. I do believe I might be looking for new employment opportunities.

And speaking of vacation, the plan is to visit our good friend in Nashville. She lives well south of downtown and is safe, but she's a musician and frequently gigs in the area. A drummer she was going to play with last night lost his house and his car. Another place she was scheduled to gig at for a couple of weeks got flattened. Thankfully it seems that so far none of her immediate friends are among those that passed. Overall though, I'm not sure if it's a great idea to keep the visit on or not. I will have to touch on that idea today.

Like I said, motivation is SHOT. I barely talked myself into getting on the trainer last night. The fake miles went rather well, though. Got some climbing PR's which is always nice.

The final houseguest of the season left this morning. I am grateful for their visits-- it means I don't have to travel. These last two were back to back. One left and another arrived within the week. This latest is a woman I haven't seen in 16 years. Our last visit was in the early days in Belize.
It will be nice to get back to some semblance of a routine. And eventually, to a full semblance of routine.

I broke down and ordered a cd from Amazon this morning. To play in the car. Internet signals are few and far between, and downloading music has proved an impossible task for this codger.

In reality I'm 90% sure it means the mouse drug isn't cutting it any more and I've still got 2+ weeks until my next appointment.

Different thing. There's no joint there and the pieces fuse in childhood anyway. Headache?

Yes, I've been feeling my head the last few days. I had just wondered that before, so now I can rule it out.

RA does affect my jaw.

My wild layperson guess is that it's the drug wearing off. If I had an infusion today it would go away.

For now I'll just take Vimovo, or more prednisone, if I must. Sigh.
