Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I wonder if my wife would consider a tandem in a couple years. That would be fun. We could get JP from Paketa to dust off his stuff.

A Paketa would be cool. If not, you can still go local.

What does the lockdown entail? Last night, the mother in law was saying that there were only restrictions on 10+ people in a space at a given time or something weird.

edit: oh, I see. Standard "stay at home" order. I would have thought that they would have gotten to that point earlier.

Me either, but he is a 5 time world champion. I don't know if he can make a comeback, though. He's had some injuries the last couple years and not had a strong season for a while.
I suppose the other question is will the World Cup Downhill series ever start back up?

I checked, 4 events postponed or canceled, they plan to race again in June.

I sure hope they get a season. The downhill riders are just so entertaining to watch. Lots of great coverage out there, I especially love Ben Cathro's track walks and "Inside the Tape" series.

Speaking of downhill, this is my all-time favorite cycling-related video. Partly because these bike-handling skills are insane, but mostly because of the commentary. It's like a instant cure for a bad mood hearing how excited they get.

Is this really still a thing? Are you not allowed to get your own gas, including at WaWa?

I'm amazed by people who can ride mud like that, bicycle or motorcycle. There always seems to be one weirdo who races in mud like it's no big deal.

The part that always gets me is at the very end when they're re-playing some sections:

"LOOK AT THE WHIP!!!!!!!! WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!?!"

Definitely the best 3 minutes of sports commentary ever.

I think they made him quit drinking in the booth shortly afterwards.
