BTW: I'm close to getting my 84 Fuji TS III dragged out into the sun for photos. Been working on the rehabilitation all winter, albeit slowly. Looking forward to the loong test rides and, hopefully, campaigning it this spring. Especially since spring is springing early.

Thanks! Even better, it’s Fujita “sports tape”. Generously gifted by a fellow forum member.

I got some better outdoor photos today. I need to trim down the rear brake cable housing a touch.

If upon ever want to put together a few photos when you get the cable perfected I'd love to post them on my blog. Especially a a close up of the fork crown and the blue Sugino dustcap of the crankset. That's a great touch!

Cheers,

Scott

Yes, Weyless hubs, good eye. The original owner did a bit of upgrading, dura-ace brakes, weyless hubs, cyclone derailleurs.

sounds good to me. One thing is for sure, they are never “done”. I’d still like to change the tires and tubes, repaint the black in the rear derailleur, buy some new rustines gum hoods. It goes on and on!

Lol, yes. I love old houses, so I am well versed on old house challenges. We are on our 3rd one, fortunately this time it's in less despair than the others 🙂.

I am inspired to detail my 72 Finest but no repaint. Lots of polish and I have a Super Mighty triple I will add; I may not need it but I like to know it's there when I do. By your receipt I believe you know the hills on the Palisades. (lots of old houses still)

After 100 test miles now, I can officially declare completion of the rehabilitation on my 1984 Fuji Touring Series III. This bike is working out just great. Full story in my 'winter project' thread but this was the first day for my newly created front bag. Nice. I set out to create a light tourer so chose the mid size seat bag, created the front rack and the front bag. I'm happy to be part of youse guys. Thanks to Scott for the catalog scans and to the rest of you for inspiration.

That's a heck of a good looking bike. In fact, it could be the long lost cousin of my '70s Fuji Finest!

This is the greatest topic on the forums! Awesome bikes everyone!

I decided to swap a bunch of parts onto this '72(?) The Newest frame I found a few weeks ago just so I could ride it. I couldn't stand looking at it on the wall any longer! Eventually I'd like to build it up with era appropriate components, but that will be a long process of acquiring and I'm impatient One ride down the block on this and I know it will be in my top 2. I have a stripped and gorgeously sea green (and heavyyyy) '76 Sports 10 that will now adorn a wall in my house for all of time as the first Fuji I got that started it all!

How I found it from a recycling center:

Bikes: Wow, where to start? A collection of 1980's and early 90's road, touring, and MTBs from the likes of Trek, Schwinn, Cannondale, Fuji, Miyata, Univega, Panasonic, and GT. It has gotten rather out of control.

Aw man, I just moved from Bloomington!! Nice looking bike, wish I could have it! Pengin is a good shop, too, so I'd trust it's in good shape! Love the maroon/gold.

The Newest is slowly coming together! Half parts bin, half ordered parts . I came across the Sugino Mighty Competition 55/42 crankset for a major score. Brakes are Shimano single-pivot from another bike in the garage but I just found a pair of Cyclones might go for. Shift group will be Suntour Blue Line for aesthetics (and budget). I think the blue accents will look sweet with the blue accents of the decals. Exage levers from the bin. All City track pedals. 39cm steel Nitto bars and Nitto Postem from my Sports 10-- I know they're heavy steel, but that's what I like about them, they have a great solid feel and I love the look of the stem. Wheelset is Ukai 27x1/4 Sansin Gyromaster hubs. Going with Continental Ride Tours after seeing them on another member's Fuji Touring.

I spent some time after these pics polishing some of the rust off of the chrome with aluminum foil, which was new to me and totally worked like a charm! Now just waiting on a bunch of packages!

Decals done!

Applied the VeloCals yesterday and the bike is totally transformed! Remind not to do the decal thing on a bike with 2 names and a slogan ever again hah! So many letters! I've seen "The Newest" in a couple different locations on the top tube, so I went with a little more towards the middle to avoid some blemishes.

Oh yeah, and the wheelset is here, but arrived with a bent front skewer so I have to find a replacement for that. Rims and freewheel have almost no signs of wear. Servicing the hubs next and still waiting on lots of other stuff in the mail!
