trouble getting a seatpost to stay put

what can i do to get my seatpost to stop sliding down into the seat tube?
i've got a merlin ti frame. i had a ti seatpost which gave me this problem, recently upgraded to a carbon post, same issue. the sliding into the seat tube motion has also scratched away the top coating of clearcoat?/enamel? off the post, i've tightened it fairly well, but i fear if i go any further i may crack the post. also... i'm not super overweight, 170lb, so i don't see my bodyweight really being an issue...

is there some sort of adhesive i can use that won't effect the post or the frame?

thanks in advance for any input.

One option is grit paste: https://aebike.com/product/fsa-instal...u4600-qc30.htm

If the bike had a removable seat collar, another option would be a special type of seatpost clamp that clamps both to the frame and directly onto the seatpost itself, like this one: https://aebike.com/product/problem-so...t0950-qc30.htm Does your Merlin have a removable collar?

Can you post a picture of the seatpost & clamp from the rear when the clamp's been tightened down?

Are you certain you have the right size post for your frame?

+1 this first

You can also use carbon assembly compound if it's slipping.

I dabbed some rubber cement on my seatpost. It worked. It created just enough 'grab' for the post from sliding down.

it is the right size for the frame. i used some liquid torque after receiving the suggestion from the road cycling forum. hopefully it stays put. i rode a few miles on it today, and it seemed ok, for now, though i won't know until i go for a longer ride.

thanks for the suggestions.

Ive done this also, worked like a charm, just be sure to clean all of the old grease from the seat tube and post first

Problem common with titanium seat posts as they are usually have a super smooth finish. I solved it by first cleaning the post then spraying with clear varnish.

The road forum is generally full of idiots, what the heck is liquid torque?

That is until you realize your seatpost is seized a couple months later.

Search function actually pays off. I went for my first ride yesterday and the carbon seat post kept sliding down.

So I need to get some carbon assembly compound (liquid torque) for this?
