The beast turned out to be a..............pallet monster. I called my wife and we had a good laugh about it.

We use a thing we got from the container store that was designed for holding newspapers for recycling. 3 sides are high, but the front is really low so it is easy for the cats to get in and out.

Thanks for the info. Here is the first "litter box" I used for getting him familiar with a box. I would put him in and give him a pet while he was finding a place. This is the king of all Litter boxes. Using a regular litter box now.

This is the one we use now:

https://www.containerstore.com/s/tra...uctId=10032151

Before we got those, I would take a storage tub and saw a notch in one side to make a sort of entrance. Buying this off the shelf is easier..

Meoweth, at the beach on Lake Superior, two summers ago. She LOVED to travel, even into her late teens. She shifted dimensions last fall; we reckon she was about 18:

Dersu - came to us out of the cornfield next to our prairie about five years ago. He was this big that day:

Dersu all grown up, on the hearth in front of the wood stove:

Our newest, Red Bramble - so named because his rescuers found him in a red bramble bush outside an Aldi's in Illinois. Adopted out once, and the adopter returned him to the rescue group. He was with them for almost a year, until my wife found him on CL. He's turned out to be the crazy play/tussle buddy that Dersu's been waiting for all his life. They're inseparable now; it's crazy how quickly they got along.

Meet Harry, all 1.6 lbs of him. I heard him calling at the end of the street while I was out walking the dog and found him in a location indicative of someone dumping him out. This is the first morning, after he'd had several doses of cat milk replacement and probably the first restful sleep he'd had in days -

- and we're waiting to see how he will blend in with this crew. Wee little Harry has already rushed Rocky the Bichon, and Titus has gently touched noses. Tabitha (not pictured) is the only real wild card here. So long as she doesn't go on a pee-fest, we're fine.

Wonderful pictures!

You really caught Harry's "all cat-ness" there.

Titus looks like he's withholding judgment...not too sure about the situation.

Hello, everyone. Meet Hudson the cat. I was riding home from visiting a friend on Friday night, and he was sitting in the middle of the path. He let me roll right by his body. I turned around and asked the young women standing there if he was theirs. They said that he had been following them. Another man came along, and we agreed one of us should pick him up, as he was clearly asking to be taken home. The guy had a dog with him and has a cat at home, so he couldn't take it. It took some work to figure out how I was going to do it. The first time we tried to put Hudson into my backpack, he freaked out and ran into the bushes. But he wasn't hard to catch again. He's very comfortable being handled. We carefully stuffed him into my backpack, and I rode home.

I can't keep him longterm. But we just came back from the vet for a checkup and vaccines. He's very happy here, and he won't let me leave him. He sticks to me like velcro.

I'm looking for someone to take him. And I'll post signs near where I found him, in case someone is hoping to get him back.

I assume the vet scanned the him for a chip, and it came up negative. That would have made it easy to re-unite Hudson with their guardians.

@noglider - he may be "chipped". Most vets will check strays for free. My sister reunited a stray with its owner by having a vet check.

No, I haven't found his owner. I did post a craigslist ad in lost+found. It has brought me a few people willing to adopt him. The vet checked for a microchip and said Hudson is about six months old.

Carp. If I weren't on the other coast I'd do my best to convince my wife that we need another boy to chase Mango around and give him some exercise. At our last visit, the vet said he needs to lose a few pounds- he's up to 22 pounds nowadays.

My family has 4 cats, but 1 is mine. Her name is Precious. She and her sister are 19. They're turn 20 in May. They're both in very good health. We've had Precious and her sister since I was 7.
I live pretty far from my parents - about 1000 miles. My mom and sister oblige me by sending photos of Precious and the others pretty frequently.

Precious and her sister, Rocket. We named her Rocket because she was fast. Now she's just fat and we call her Tubby. They're favorite place to hang out is the back of the couch so they can stare out the windows. Precious is the one looking at the camera.

We also have Maine Coon. His name is Big Ben, but he only answers to "Baby". He loves boxes and baskets. But he'll also settle for a roasting pan, if left out.

Our last kitty is Antonio, also often called "dumbass". He's a little... simple? I rescued him while I was in college. He has separation anxiety, so likes to be carried around. He's doing much better living with parents, because of the other cats and there's always family over. Antonio is harness trained. My mom usually takes him with her when she goes to run errands. He does really well in the car and loves new people. I think he's secretly a dog.

Bonus picture!!
I used to nap on the couch everyday after school. Because I was in 3 small ensembles, 2 orchestras, and 5 clubs, I usually went to school at 5AM and got home around 5PM. Below is how Rocket and Precious usually laid with me while I slept. Precious is the one near my head.

Felix doesn't know what a dog is, but he likes big warm things.

Drinka doesn't understand cats, and doesn't particularly like them either, but has been given to understand that as they're part of our household she has to tolerate them. She ignores them until they get too close. Then she barks at them. Loudly. She hasn't eaten one. Yet.
