First of the LED shop lights are up and functioning...magnetic to electronic ballast for the 8’ fluorescent is being a PITA!...”I’m a bike mechanic Jim, not an electrician!”

Ahhhh...easy part is done...
There will be three work stations along this wall...
This is where everything shop bench will be...not just bike stuff...metal topped bench seems best for that idea...
These tools and the “inventory”...
...will be here at the end...
Each area will correspond to a stand...double here and the single(s) at the metal bench end...hopefully the scale in my mind translates to the actual area!

Moved a tool box and found enough bike tools to facilitate setting up another work area and to flesh out area at the metal topped bench...gonna be a favored area as the weather “chills out”...
The pile of seats, etc on the right is going to disappear! More useful shelving going up and there is a large metal unit with drawers and doored shelves...outta sight, outta mind!
Another great little work area, metal topped heavy duty Craftsman work table with doored shelving and drawers...this at the warmer part of the garage, too!
I was going to put one of the new LED shop lights that I purchased(three to a box) for the work areas and to replace the old fluorescent overhead light that needs a new upgraded ballast...The LED light would be too darn bright! This articulated light has two brightness settings and the lights actually provide heat!

Also there will be a lot of natural light coming in from the window behind the piece of card board behind the pile...all of the windows seem to be a “custom” size so I can’t just go buy shades...needs to keep prying eyes 👀, well, from prying...what happens in the garage stays in the garage...
Should provide some heat, too.

Ok. Next big step...This empty wall is where the metal topped bench was...all of the tools have been spread out to the new old work areas...the tools boxes will rolled out of the way as needed for the time being...the bikes pictured
Bigger area than it looks...
With pipe insulation protection...
Judicious placement of the insulation should allow me utilize this area to the max...🤞🏻
are going to be hung up, standing up as tightly as possible, again, for the time being...

Pics!
While in my basement today, got a bright idea. Yeah, not the LED overhead lights... I've been contemplating a workbench. I'm currently using an old dresser, and an old kitchen table. I realized I have a good start to a bench already. I have the Captain's Pedestal base for our old waterbed, stacked on the basement. 4 drawers and a cabinet each piece. I just need to make them one piece and add a work top, and peg board backing... I've tried to sell the waterbed for quite some time, might as well put it to use.

Went to Home Depot today to get lumber for the area over the new and the old box to reclaim the floor space that I lost with the aforementioned boxes...should be able to get 6-8 road bikes off the floor so I can put my three pro stands right down the middle...two singles and a double...may be redundant here.
After that I’ll tackle the 3 piece garage door...2 solid and 1 swingin’...gotta make it look like a legitimate garage door, too.
Need some windows for much needed natural light, but still afford security.
Havin’ fun workin’ on bikes and workin’ with wood...
Platform here...over these...if I have to, I can pull the boxes out to get to the upper area...
Gettin’ close to the end-ish...

Not screwed together yet...
I don't have everything finalized, but this will work out. Recycle the pedastal, the boards I used for the platform can be the bench top. I'll want something on top of the particle board though. This takes something taking up space and makes it useful... What was a King Size waterbed, is now a work bench. With storage.
Then I can configure lighting. And work out a better way to hang bikes and wheels.
Doesn't hurt any, that I'm in a de-clutter mood. Never lived in one place, much less one house, this long, 13 almost 14 years.
Edit, I have my 2 good road bikes on hanging on the stand, my Marin hybrid project as well. In the other room are 2 bikes. One in the garage, one upstairs on the trainer, one in my cubicle at work, one at my son's house and 1 at my daughter's... I plan on hanging most of the bikes on one of the walls as I straighten, tidy and de-clutter.

Back in the “kitchen” today...had a blast with the wood working stuff...dragged it all out! Second story almost finished...gotta lengthen it a couple of more feet...actually able to put 10 bikes up there, off the floor instead of 6/8...it’s a process for sure...
I would love to lose that oil tank!
This needs to be extended...
The underneath bikes go up top and the boxes get pushed under the second story
Metal topped work bench is a mess again...
The pro stands will go here...the other stands are my summer and traveling stands...

Wow...
That's a pretty serious setup! Impressive!
Makes my beginner PCS 9.2 stand and "adequate" selection of tools seem like child's play by comparison. I was practically drooling when looking at the pictures of your work bench! Park tools galore!

Thanx Ross530,
The floor plan is kinda fluid, no matter where I’m working, there’s a work station, or if there is someone else here working on their bike, again there is a work station and no waiting for a tool...all of the boxes are fully accessible, too...
I use the portable and bench mounted stands in the good weather and the tools boards feed the outside work areas, too...can’t wait...
actually there was a time when I all used was the portable PCS10s and just setup up just the stand(s) that I needed, that worked out just fine, maybe even better...🤔
