I reached my yearly mileage goal today
My cycling goal for the year was 5,000 miles. I reached that today. I have enjoyed it a great deal.

Ditto on the congratulations!
Personally I'm afraid of setting a goal for fear that it might take the fun out of riding.

My garmin is loading after a bit of xcountry skiing so let's look....wait for it....boy it takes a long time for my Garmin 500 to load into the Garmin Training Center app. You'd think it could remember the loaded stuff and just load up new stuff but clearly that's not what happens. I'm in AK where our biking season is pretty short. Winter biking (I have fat tire bikes) doesn't allow me to put on any significant mileage compared to summer. OK... it was 4110 for this year. Pretty good for me.

Good for you! I hope to get there this week. I'm going to take a week or so off after that. Feeling a little sore and tired and a rest is called for.

Congratulations: very impressive and with room to spare.
I thought I would miss mine after a crash and vertigo episode had me grounded for a bit this fall, but the recent warm weather has me tantalizingly close again, provided I average about 30 miles a day to year's end. Probably worth it for the sense of accomplishment.

With a late spring and several personal happenings. I am ending up approx 500 miles short of my usual mileage.

Mine is a dead duck - winter came a month too early around here......................

Man, that's a lot of mileage, did you do it all on the Giant Cypress? Mine was a paltry 2000 miles, hit it last month. Hope to do a little more in 2015 but New England winters keep me indoors.

I don't have a yearly mileage goal but I did set a goal of riding at least one metric century every month, and I achieved that goal yesterday. I probably rode close to 30 metrics during the year, but it's hard to accomplish in some months when the weather is lousy.

Excellent for you jskash! Congratulations on meeting your goal!
I surpassed my goal of 10,000 miles and hope to hit 11,000 by the end of the year. Climbing wise I just passed 700,000 feet of climbing; don't think I'll make it to the next level by years-end.

I'll be reporting back at the end of December - always optimistic that there will be at least a few odd cycling-appropriate days before the year is over. Got in a tandem ride yesterday - several weeks later than our last ride in 2013.

Congratulations!
I am on target. Less than 12 miles/day will do it.

My weekday ride is 14 miles in 65 minutes. I ride 15 or 16 on Saturday, and I try to do 20 on Sunday. I had only missed three days from January 1 when I got sick in November. I had to take a little more than a week off. Other than that, I ride every day. I have never gone farther than 21 miles.

Yep, all done on a Giant Cypress. I am really consistent. I ride every day unless I am sick. I have taken a ride every day this year except when I was sick in November.

You folks from cold climates with the big miles: do you count trainer time? I do, and it's usually 15 to 20% of my total. My rationale: an hour on the trainer is usually a mile or two less than a comparable time spent on the road.

Trainer time is a good thing but it isn't mileage.

Reaching the summit of your Everest is indeed a monumental achievement. Only a few off days due to illness shows a tenacity to mount the bike that is beyond the realm of possibilities in my case. Good luck with your new goal(s).

My rear tire on my trainer spins, same as when on the road thus it traveled a measurable unit. It counts.
