I got it! NOS 77 Bianchi Specialissima, please Help
Hey Everyone,
Yup. Its the one that was in the for sale section. The frame arrived on Friday and it looks great. I actually dont like the pictures because they make the frame look more shop worn than it is. I've been looking for a clean Celeste green High end Bianchi for years. I cant get over its condition. I cant wait to build it up!
I need your help! This bicycle requires short reach BOLT ON brakes. I either need a new brakeset or I could use just the front bolt because I have a rear for the Nuovo record brakes. Also, I need a nice Super Record crankset and some braze on campagnolo shifters. I am also looking for some time period clincher rims. Probably a 36hole because I already have the hubs. Check out the pics and thanks for lookin!

Congratulations John. That bike is beautiful. You'll have to complete the build so we can all go riding again this summer.

I may have some NR/SR bits. Are you looking for date-correct crank arms (1978?), and what arm length? 52/42? Maybe a good idea to measure the BB spindle length to see if it needs a pre- (113mm spindle) or post-CPSC (115.5mm spindle) crank. I may also have some short reach arms or full calipers - I can check tomorrow. For rims, clinchers or tubular?
Looks like a fab project frame.

I have shifters coming. I'm going to switch some parts around in my bikes. I can use either a super record or a Nuovo record crankset.

Hi, thanks for responding. Crank arm length 170 or 172.5. I have plenty of spindles so that is not an issue. Let me know on the brakes. I will go with clinchers.

These look like a good fit for your bike, except the bb appears to be English.
But even a NOS period correct crank seems worth $200. Do whatever you want with the bb, you can't see them once installed anyway.

The 3XXXX serial number might be 1973 or 1983. Anyone want to chime in here? Different s/n for Specialissima?
The BIANCHI decals look like those on my 1982 (made in 1981).

I think I found a donor bicycle 4 the parts. Find a great deal on a older lotus competition full campagnolo nuovo record and super record. We will see if that pans out. Also found a unicanter seat. Can't wait to build this sucker up

I missed this thread on the first go around. It's definitely not 1983, as it has the long dropouts, derailleur cable routing over the BB shell, no top tube brake cable tunnnels and it's designed for exposed brake nuts. While 1973 is a possibilty, it would be too early in the calendar year for the 1973-1974 Campione del Mondo decal and the top tube graphics are even later. Also, based on other high grade, late 1970s Bianchi bicycles that have surfaced, the code is the reverse of the early 1980s. Consequently, the subject frame should be a 1976 model.
