Tubeless rim no spoke holes

I have a Shimano wheels rs610. They are just a backup set now worked well but a pain because rim has no holes to drop nipple in and I don’t like the proprietary nipples a spokes. I know the pain of threading a nipple on these rims with regular spokes and nipples. I don’t run them tubeless can i just drill holes in outer wall to drop nipples in. I can’t imagine it would effect rim but I don’t know. They are only 16 front and 20 rear.
