That sounds a bit condescending to me, Tim. It's as if you are describing nonbelievers as incapable of thinking and making their own decisions. Or that their decisions are wrong. I think nonbelievers are able, they have just come to a different conclusion than believers.

yeah...like non-believers use logic and common sense instead of just following blindly.

Fox is doing a television version remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The lead character, Dr. Frank-n-Furter, previously played by a Caucasian male (Tim Curry), will now be played by an African American Transgender female (Laverne Cox).

grew up Mexican Catholic... still identify as such. confirmed. still, was never raised to take any of it literally or out of context.

religion is a social institution. spirituality is an individual experience, and doesn't apply to everyone at every point in time. I definitely don't believe in some sort of singular, humanistic "man upstairs" who just controls with arbitrary discretion. I'm a scientist for christsake' (see what I did there? )

personally, I identify a lot more with eastern philosophies and faiths, but putting a label or rigid thought structure on it has never been my thang

also been digging this track

Bought a folding bike today. I have been looking at them for quite awhile. Got a Brompton with the lacquer finish, so you can see the welds. And, it might be a one-of-a-kind, given they never sold this color with all black parts. And, it fits into the trunk of my FRS with room to spare.

i will have a fixed gear folding bike in my lifetime. just you wait.

i was raised roman catholic, and once i was confirmed at age 13 i havent practiced any religion. i never believed in it any more than santa claus even as a child.

i now identify myself as a Zen Buddhist which isnt actually a religion, but a philosophy. i make my own change, and see my results. good or bad.

nothing wrong with anyones religion or lack thereof, do you.

The brazing on Brompons is insanely good and I wonder how much they get paid. I took some photo's of my old boss's Brompton

You guys are reading too much into what I typed. I didn't mean that non-believers don't use reason or common sense. That wasn't my intent. It was just a quick comment, that's all.

For the record, I am Roman Catholic. I had been in discernment to become a deacon and was >this< close to applying to enter formation but stopped just short. It was the right move at the time. Maybe in a few years I'll think about it again but my last daughter has to graduate high school first.

At one time I also thought about entering a Cistercian monastery - Trappist. I spent some time there and go back every year for retreat.

Again, I'm not here to proselytize but to discuss bikes. If anyone does want to discuss then send a PM. That's all.

-Tim-

Sweet Bromies.

Maybe they select the ones with the prettiest welds to get the "Raw" finish.

I don't think I am. When you say that acknowledging his existence is "more than", by default you are saying that not believing is "less than".

Why use the word "More" instead of "Different"?

We need to be careful with our choice of words here, especially because these kinds of arguments can become pedantic real quick.

At the risk of doing that (being pedantic), I would agree with Squid that phrasing your sentence like this sort of implies that you're correct, which alienates people who don't believe what you do.
Also, there's a sub-forum for this kind of discussion, and it's inappropriate to continue discussing it here. I'll admit to participating in the conversation earlier, for which I apologize because now I sound like a hypocrite.

Let's back off on the G-O-D talk people, or better yet, take it here:
