Check out how the right side pedal and crank was displaced (in the middle pic) to top of stroke to match the riders position.

This isn’t from a sale ad, but while looking up some info on kids’ helmets for a friend I stumbled across a site which had a promotional video (like, for the site itself ) that caught my eye...
Uhhh, I’m no sick trail rider, so have I missed the mount-your-bars-backward trend, or am I not understanding something??

Seller's description (in all caps of course):
"THIS IS A VERY RARE UNIQUE VINTAGE BICYCLE!
SPECIALIZED BIKE CO MADE THESE FOR PANASONIC AND THIS IS THE FIRST GENERATION HYBRID THEY MADE THAT YEAR IN @81-82.
THE DX FRAMES WERE MOSTLY ROAD BIKES AND THIS YEAR THEY STARTED TO GET INTO THE HYBRID MARKET.
EVERYTHING IS COMPLETE AND ORIGNAL AND WORKS I REPLACED THE FRONT TIRE WITH A CIRCA CORRECT TIRE. THE BIKE IS FLAWLESS
EVEN BACK IN THE DAY THIS WAS A 300 DOLLAR BIKE IM ASKING HALF THAT. 150 DOLLARS CASH"
To their credit, they did a good job of making up a story that sounds plausible if you don't know anything about 80's bikes.

Their prices are out of control for bikes and frames but they have good deals on parts sometimes. I got some special edition MKS Sylvan pedals last year for $20, and paid the same two weeks ago for a Tange technoglide 1 1/8 headset. I think they still have both in stock. I assume they have a Soma or Merry Sales connection.

I did a search to find out if Next ever actually made a bike called "Top Banana," or if that was a custom decal.
Turns out the builder was inspired by an Instructables post, and left a comment with some of those same pictures 12 years ago (scroll down to the bottom of the page):
Top Banana Bike
Good eye, Unca Sam. That is indeed a caster bearing.
Now you can build your own "Top Banana"...
