Looks to be an early 90's Ti bike. That's a great price for it esp. with the components. Doesn't look like it's got much in the way of tri geometry besides some clip on bars.

I have been in looking for a while now for a backup/loaner bike.
I emailed the seller to arrange a check up.
Other than rust... what else should i check out and how can i tell if the crank is too worn out?

I'd be aware that it has 650c wheels. If you already own a 650c bike, then no sweat. If you don't, then be ready to buy different sized tires/tubes. I would be hesitant to go 650c at this point, it's a dying size.

Nevermind, it probably is a Tachyon but doesn't look as steep since it's a 51. Missed the whole 650 wheels part. If I were the OP, I'd consider it and also ask if the owner has any back up wheels.

It certainly won't be comfortable to ride with the drop bars on it. The seat tube angle is indeed forward enough that a lot of weight will be placed on your arms (I used to own one of these). Trying to set it up with road bars will be an exercise in frustration. If you indeed want a tri bike (or TT) and will set it up with aero bars, it's quite a decent ride, I found. I am in the process of selling my Corima carbon aero 650c wheels, but as pointed out, it's a dying size, with most dealers not stocking tires, and those that do will more likely be tubulars.

Oh crap totally missed that. 650c wheels.
Thanks for pointing it out and preventing me from wasting a long drive to the OC.
