MTB add-ons?
Usually one keeps a mountain bike lightweight. But are there things you’d like to add for some reason? What’s useful to you?

I have one of those short mudguards for my front fork. That's about it as I always carry most of my stuff in my Camelback.

I generally don't like to wear a backpack since it is so hot here in South Florida. Most of my rides are fairly short (a couple of hours) park trail rides.
I have the following on the bike:
1) Bottle Cage usually with a water bottle or Gatorade.
2) Cateye Strata Wireless Computer - kind of redundant since I carry my phone for tracking but it is nice to see the clock, elapsed time, and mileage right on the stem.
3) Lightweight Pump mounted under the bottle cage.
4) Under Saddle Bag with a spare tube, patch kit, quick link, bandaids, sterile wipes, tire levers, and a small multitool.
5) I just added a Mucky Nutz front mud guard since we're getting some early rains and I'm encountering puddles and mud occasionally.
Without the water/Gatorade bottle all of this adds just over a pound to the bike - not really noticeable.
I do wear an Opsrey hydration pack (I have a couple of different sizes) when I'm out for longer rides but the other stuff stays on the bike.

Seriously though I only added the computer mount as well as a saddle bag with a bike tool, a 29” tire (man those things are big !) a set of tire levers and CO2 gear. No bottle cages on the bike as I use a Bak. I’m told to qcarry a tube even though I’m running tubless.

I carry very little "on" my bike other than a water bottle and a small tool set, but the trails in my neck of the woods are mostly interconnected loops and seldom branch out more than 8 or 10 miles from where I park, so my truck is usually a do-able walk back, should I get into trouble. Folks who ride in areas where the trails branch out miles from the parking area or civilization likely should (have to) carry a bit more.

Do tubeless tires count ?.
When I purchased my recent HT, the wheels came tubeless ready, taped and all. Assuming the stock Specialized Ground Control tires were going to be "meh" I opted to have the shop swap out to Schwalbe Nobby Nic's (plus valves) which and according to my local mt. bike club are a favorite tire in our riding conditions. I've yet to learn how to fix a flat, these have sealant so that should only be a severe tear. I carry the tube, levers and CO2 for that potential but like Pickle am usually only a long walk from the car. Oh and I put on a Garmin speed sensor.
