Gitane Super Corsa
Friend has bike I am going to help him move along to a new home. I have a few partial photos and will get full bike soon. It's a 56cm with Reynolds 531, Nuovo Record, 5 speed free wheel, Campy high flange hubs with newer clincher rims. Eggplant color. Nice pedals. I am guessing late 70's and have no idea of value.

That looks like it's really nice shape. Interested to see what responses you get and also to see more pics. Going to send you a PM!

SoCal is a hot market. I'd value the bike $400-$500. It really should go closer to the high end of the valuation given the condition of the bike as well as the quality of the parts and frame. But the market is soft.

It's in super nice condition, at least what is pictured.
Gitane measured center to top so it's a 57cm size frame. Late 1973. Burgundy color came out in 1974.
The Super Corsa model was made for the US market only - between 1968 and 1973. On the world market those bike were called Olympic (Mafac Brakes) and Super Olympic (Campy brakes)
I've paid $600+ for Super Corsas and TdFs that were not in as good condition as the pictures. (...and I don't buy junk)

I had a Gitane in 1975 which was a high school graduation gift. I loved that bike and rode the snott out it. My first "10 speed". I am sure it was pretty basic as far as components and frame go but probably still cost $200 back than. Pretty sure my Dad thought that was an "insane" amount to pay for a bicycle. I will have to find the photos of that bike on one of the dozen hard drives sitting in a closet.
