Desperately Seeking Globe Live 3 or Live 2 in XL for My Dog
Unfortunately Specialized acquired the Globe line, then promptly discontinued this terrific dog bike.
My dog and I really, really enjoyed mine, but I gave it to my father when he got a new dog.
None of the Specialized dealerships in my region can locate a leftover, and I haven't been having any luck finding them on Ebay or Craigslist. Anyone aware of any leftovers, or any used XLs for sale?
Barring that, any ideas about custom frame builders who produce a porteur rack model?

For 2012 they show the Live 2 and 3 models. Check out the specialized site and see if you can purchase directly from them.
I just purchased the Live 1 2011 model, nice bike.

DARN! Thanks Dynocaster. It's a Large and a lumbering lummox like me needs an XL. Heck, I look like Bill Walton in a Shriner's Parade even on an XL. Would you believe the dog on my back is a standard poodle? (Haha--just kidding.)
Any Extra Larges out there? I'd almost rather have a Live 2, but I'll be delighted with either in an XL.

Be a smart move on their part, seeing as how there are approximately ...zero leftovers, and none of the current owners are selling them on CL or Ebay.
Calling my Specialized dealership right now. (Maybe they'll also bring back the old Avatar seat--that seat ruled too!

You could also get this and make a dog bike from one of your other bikes.

Thanks Dynocoaster!
That is pretty slick. Sadly none of my bikes have the eyelets at the fork dropouts.
Happily though, my Specialized LBS found a '11 Live2 (which has a chain and normal rim brakes, instead of the Gates belt drive and hydraulic disk brakes.) Still, it'll do, and maybe I can upgrade to a Rohloff hub and some other kind of crankset.
Peace & safe commuting!

Thanks again Dyno.
I'm thinking of trying a Rohloff, as my Alfine 8-speed has a chipped internal tooth or something. I've been careful to keep it adjusted correctly, but whenever I'm torquing in 5 gear, I get a little pop-n-skip. I don't know if I completely trust Alfine's now, and want to give Rohloff a whirl. Perhaps it wasn't intended to be ridden with cleats and clipless pedals?

Let me know if you plan to sell your 8 Speed setup. I want to put gears on my Live 1 at some point.

I just posted some pics of Pepper in his new crate for my Globe Live 03 mixte! I'm glad you found a Live 2 to fit you. These are some fun, gorgeous bikes. I hope you post a pic of you and your little ones enjoying the new bike!

I'm checking in to see if your dad opted for the new bike versus the Live 03. Pics of the new bike if that's the one you and Angel will be riding!

I changed the front chainring (errr, beltring) to a 50T, so I don't spin out in top gear as much. And I figured as long as I had to buy a new belt and ring, I might as well get one that would fit the narrower Dura Ace crankset I had lying around in the garage. It's a lot easier on the knees, than the wider OEM cranks. About the only downside is that the belt guard had to go, but fortunately the belt and older Gates beltring don't grab at my work slacks.
I've tried 3 different handlebars, and currently have Velo Orange Porteur bars on it, (which is what the bike should have come with OEM, IMO.) Seriously loving this bike and I hope you are too!

I was fortunate enough to find the Globe Live 2 for my father and his dog. Then I was really fortunate because while he was enthusiastic about riding with his dog, he is a lazy, lazy man who really doesn't enjoy exercise, with a dumb, dumb dog who, sensing his owner's lack of interest, would jump out of the basket. So now I have a Globe LIve 2 AND a Live 3 in my size, and will hopefully again some day have a dog.
But for anyone else interested in one of these wonderful bikes, here's a guy in Denver selling his for a very reasonable price. I'm not affiliated with the guy, just know that these are great, great bikes and this is a reasonable price for The Perfect Dog Ride. Seriously, I would buy this bike immediately if I didn't already have two of them.

These Globe Lives are slicker than owl-dung, especially if you have a small dog. I ordered a dogbed that not only fit the porteur rack perfectly, the color matched so well that people still ask where I found such a cool dogbike.
Here's a shot of the Live 2 on that Ebay auction.

I also have a Nexus-8 hub if anyone wants it, but it's a little haggard after sitting neglected in my father's garage, despite dipping it twice.
Peace and safe riding in 2019!

She felt XL enough pedaling uphill in today's crosswinds. At ~18 pounds, she weighs more than many of the bikes we passed today.
Though today we rode the Live 2 with the drop bars, below. Might be psychosomatic, but this cheaper black Live 2 feels noticeably faster than the blue Live 3 with the belt drive.

Viva the Information Age! What a time to be alive. I found another Globe Live 3, (this one in Large for my girlfriend) on Craigslist in a distant town.
It's not perfect, but we'll be fixing her up and making her that way for my sweetheart and our dog.
Here are a few more pics of my Globe Live 2's upgrades:
Confess I'm looking forward to my gf's reaction the first time she has to pedal an extra 19 pounds of dogflesh up the hills around here.

It took a few years, but I'm a firm believer that with a little patience in the Information Age, everyone eventually gets his or her fondest desire.
Despite asking the kid at the bike shop if I could please pay extra for a little extra care given to packing the fenders, they were hastily thrown in with a single sheet of non-affixed bubble-wrap between them, and these discontinued, scarce, matching fenders were dented up in shipping. So while these wonderful bikes have been discontinued, you can still find one if you're patient. Just keep checking Ebay, and Googling "globe live 2 [or 3], craigslist".
Ah well, at least we got the bike in my sweetheart's size and we're working on fixing it up. Have visited my local Specialized dealership and asked them to keep an eye out for both the steel and the alloy fenders. We seldom ride in the rain anyway, and this bike looks a little cleaner and simpler without the fenders and Axa frame lock. She digs it almost as much as I dig mine, and of course the dog is just happy she's not being left alone when we go for rides.
