Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How about some good news for a change.

Maybe it is just me but there seems to be a lot of threads with bad news recently... I am tired of bad news.

I was driving about 15 minutes ago and there was a family on bikes in front of me taking up most of the road. I drove behind them slowly until they turned off on to a side street. It was great.

I just saved a bunch of dollars by switching to Geico. How's that?

My brother just got a caad9-5.
I suppose that's bad news since it's a nicer bike then mine...

But that's 2 converts to road biking now.

My buddy put down a deposit on a CAAD 9-5 today. When he gets that, I'll be the only one in the group with a crappy bike. That's mostly good news.

I have a new saddle, bars and bar tape - all white - arriving Tuesday. (Well, the bars are black I guess.) Fit and comfort upgrade.

I am riding better than ever.

All of this is good news, but only I care about any of it. Don't know if that helps.

This is nice.

I exceeded my weight loss goal of 30 pounds, and seem to have settled at 40 pounds down.

My dislocated elbow is finally fully re-located and I'm riding stronger than ever and looking forward to a long summer on the bike...

Good. People have been known to leave college sweethearts in a hurry when they graduate first and get into the real world.

I got new Campy Centaur shifters yesterday, with the new ergonomics. I somehow survived installing (barely) the cryptic, nearly impossible to install shifter cables. I rode 2.5 hours today in 95 degree weather, and the shifters are awesome. I am happy.
