Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Replacement for Stolen Cannondale Six13

Dear Friends:

I need your help in replacing my Cannondale Six13. It was stolen from my garage this morning. It helped me do things I didn't think were possible. First race. First century. First trip to Europe. I met my wife while riding that bike. I rode that bike within an hour of my father's death. That bike put me in the hospital for five days in February (it came through without a scratch). We've climbed through hailstorms, ridden through wildfires & sandstorms, picked our way through pack crashes, participated in Rides of Silence & memorial rides, outrun dogs & rednecks, and chased down ill-mannered motorists. That bike took my heartrate to 202 one time, and filled my lungs with the sweetest air on earth every time. And now she's gone.

I need your help. I need another bike and don't know where to begin.

As I said, she was a Cannondale Six13, 52 cm, black carbon-fiber frame tubes with aluminum joints and red team pinstriping, full Dura-Ace, Mavik Ksyrium wheels, Cannondale carbon compact crank, FSA K-wing handlebars, Fizik seat, Speedplay pedals, carbon Bontrager bottle cages, Garmin Edge 305. Not the newest, lightest or most expensive, but she was as good on the eyes as she was bumping in a pack.

Before the crash (I'm still recovering) I was a B-level club rider doing about 120 miles a week, excluding tours and t-shirt rides. Crits & TT's aren't my thing, but I enjoy centuries. I'm 5'4", 140#, but trying to get to a fit 135#. My budget is $6-8,000.

BF-ers know what they're talking about. Steer me in the right direction.

Super Six High Mod...with your budget you could, if memory serves, get DA Di2.
