Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Saracen Aravis, any good?

Hi, I've been looking at a few road bikes, and I've seen one on Ebay called the Saracen Aravis. I'm looking for a fairly cheap bike (I know those two words dont really go together ) and my budget goes up to around £250. I know that saracen are a fairly good make, but I know they also make some cheap tacky bikes, so I was wondering if this one was any good, if anyone knows?

Basic bike with "only" 16 gears if in it's original setup. Okay for first road bike, but not by all means a superbike. Not expensive, so watch out overpriced ones. One for sale in Finland for 100€ in pristine condition. So look for bikes in 75-150£ range...If you want to date this bike someday to 9-10 speed cassette, it probably don't fit to those original wheels.
