Rear rack suggestion for a 148mm boost frame?

Hey all,

I'm looking for a new rack for a Hardtail with boost 148mm spacing, my old rack is just too small and is lacking clearance on the wheel (29er with a 2.2" tyre).

Any one had any experience or have recommendations?

Oh I'm a bit of a weight weenie and only use smaller front panniers on the rear so no heavy weight expedition stuff thanks

I'm using this rack: https://www.axiomgear.com/products/r...iner-29er-dlx/

It clears 29" x 2.3, could probably clear up to 2.5" tires. The rack stays needed to be flexed inward a tiny bit on my 135mm OLD frame, so could probably stretch a bit for Boost frames.

Axiom also makes a fat-bike rack. They list it as 26" but with up to 5" tires ... the rack stays are about 17mm taller than the 29er rack, and the platform is also longer. The width isn't listed, but I'd guess the rack is designed to fit hubs at least 150mm, if not up to 170/190. Of course, it weighs more too. https://www.axiomgear.com/products/r...acks/fatliner/

From my quick searching, availability may be a problem. I paid way less than MSRP, but now I can only find iffy listings on eBay.

Tubus vega 29er. About 600g.

https://www.tubus.com/en/products/re...t/vega-classic

The nomenclature is a little confusing (some people call the 28" model the 29" model) so refer to the part number from the web page when searching/ordering. The 28" model might work if the mounting points are a couple cm up from the rear axle. If you end up with a 28" model (Classic not Evo) and it's not high enough you can get an extension kit from Tubus to raise it up a couple cm (but that's an extras $25 and a little extra weight).

It's chromoly and can be bent to accommodate 150mm - 180mm spaced mounting points.

That surprised me, so I checked. Yes, the tech drawing says 150 to 180mm.

Good call.

Tubus for sure. They make excellent racks and I really haven't seen or used a better aftermarket rack that isn't full custom. High quality well proven racks that have gone everywhere.
