I did get out both Saturday and Sunday - without the group. Ran into a local guy who will also be riding the PMC this year (his third) and was invited to join a nearby group ride when the start up in the spring. That would work better for me because of location. And they are a little faster than me, so that should push me to get faster without being completely blown away.

Anyone who rode this weekend is to be commended for braving the wind! (We didn't.)
I rode my commute this morning. Haven't ridden home yet. It snowd the whole way in.

I also think the wind was to blame for my car window shattering on Saturday. Right in the driveway. Nothing missing. I don't think it was intentional. My husband's car was right next to mine and he left his wallet in plain sight. If it was a smash and grab, he would have been the obvious target.

So, yes, was crazy enough to go out in the winds all last weekend. But it was SO beautiful. And even crowded on the Minuteman on Sunday.
Cross posting some of these pics from the Mission pic game since they are all Greater Boston.
From Saturday, on my way back from Whole Paycheck in Woburn, took the hard way home (mission - "More than 10% Grade"):
Two Saturday's ago, was in Harvard Square (mission - "travel brochure photo"):
And a while before that, on the way home, on Mill Street off Minuteman (mission - "veteran tree"):

"ripper ahead"??? I don't see it listed on Wiki's glossary of cycling (but then, it doesn't have "brifter" either so ...)

20.5 miles this afternoon, so glad to have my Allroads back from the shop. I also rode it 29.9 Wednesday. Before that I rode my studded tire equipped cross bike 21 miles Monday and 25 Tuesday. Today was cold but honestly with my cold weather gear it wasn’t nearly as unpleasant as the walk from the car to the office.

With mixed enthusiasm for getting slushy and salty I aired down the corpulent Schwalbe Marathon Winter 29”x2.5” studded tires on my old Gary Fisher hybrid for some fender flap dragging fun. I headed over to the rail trail in Weston. The path had plenty of footsteps in the 4 inches or so of soft snow. I found that the drag caused by my fender flap plowing through the snow was going to be an ever present companion. What I couldn’t get used to however is the parabolic arc that I rode across the path in a desperate attempt to go straight! I eventually discovered that riding through the virgin snow on the side of the path was my best bet. That was until I found myself falling down the side of the inclined terrain that is next to the paved surface. Having regained my footing and avoiding a face full of snow I got off the path at Miriam st and pedaled that beast home for a whopping 10 miles. Since I slipped my phone into the handlebar bag getting some in the go pictures was possible.

Today I did the same route as Friday. 20.5 miles. I rolled into the garage with toasty warm fingers and toes. It’s a little snug shifting with those gloves underneath the Bar Mitts but the added effort is worth it.

On my ride on Friday I was scouting out locations to begin easing into Mountain Bike riding. I noticed the Cranberry Bogs at have walking paths, The high voltage power lines all have unpaved roads. Also I have checked out the links you posted. I'm doing it, its just a matter of when. I want to make sure I will use the Bike.

Not yet. The bike shop is putting a price for me the bike is selling for $999. There are some accessories I am adding, going tubeless, bottle cages. What do you think of fenders? I’m thinking of just the clip on ones? Hopefully by Tuesday I will decide.

fenders aren't critical but I like them cuz they can keep random "stuff" from being flung into my face & elsewhere. keeps the water bottles clean too. of my 3 bike,s only the MTB has fenders. the road & hybrid do not

got out for a ride before the rain storm, Bedford to Spy Pond, Arlington. 40s & misty. always company on the Minuteman. reliably plowed, a sanctuary for a January ride w/ nice dry pavement! saw several die-hard runners in shorts!
a penny farthing?
a cpl rare moist spots
always seems to be windy near the water
kept the cover on the leather saddle
the sign at Bedford Depot
shout out to the pizza shop in Bedford. so convenient after a ride!
fun to get on the road bike after a cpl months messing with the MTB & the studded hybrid thru winter snow
always like to chat w/ riders coming off the trail as I'm getting ready to launch, to hear about the trail & climate conditions. someone loading their p/u asked if I had a rain jacket. I assured her I would be back before the rain storm. by time I got back my thick fleece jacket was damp (on the outside) from the mist but it's like thick fur so I was cozy the whole time. used the fabric nose wipe patches on the cycling gloves to wipe the eye shield occasionally. they do a nice job & the bar mitts keep them dry & protected from any precipitation
